The posting

Amazon is seeking an experienced Sr. Program Manager to join the Direct Tax Compliance and Reporting team. The Sr. Program Manager will operate with significant independence in ambiguous environments where the business problem, technical solution, or program strategy may not yet be will-defined. This role will partner with senior leaders across Tax, Accounting, Finance Operations and Technology to bring clarity, align stakeholders, and deliver complex initiatives from concept through launch and long-term sustainment. This is a strategic and tactical role that will both shape the direction of programs and drive the day-to-day execution required to deliver results. The Sr. Program Manager needs a business background and experience working across different groups and multiple stakeholders.

Successful candidates will have deep experience in Finance (specifically Tax and/or Accounting) as well as demonstrated strength in at least one of the following disciplines, with the ability to bridge across both:

- Program Management - Technology / Systems Implementation

Key job responsibilities - Own the end-to-end lifecycle of complex, cross-functional tax programs - from strategy definition through delivery - spanning multiple teams and organizations across Tax, Accounting, Engineering and others. - Develop methodologies and tools to manage multiple projects and provide metrics, reports and status updates to stakeholders. - Manage project plans, action items, follow ups and completion of tasks for multiple projects. - Collaborate with various members of the tax team to help develop project plans, tasks and overall project deliverables. Propose ideas on how to streamline the project planning efforts, automate processes and reporting. - Participate in the documentation of processes focusing on identifying requirements, mitigating risk, finding opportunities to streamline and ensuring completeness. - Influence resource allocation, team priorities, and technology decisions by building data-driven business cases for Directors and VPs; negotiate trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term scalability.

About the team The Tax Integration team’s mission is to be the Direct Tax Reporting & Compliance team’s trusted partner by leveraging our broad expertise and specialized knowledge to guide successful outcomes. We serve our customers by deeply understanding their problems and unique needs, leading efforts to develop ideas, and recommending the optimal solutions that simplify, standardize, and transform tax processes.

- 5+ years of program or project management experience - Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements - Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience - Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field - Knowledge of general AI tools

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
