The Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC), AWS for Government, Storage Services team is hiring a Systems Development Engineer to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity to use the latest cloud computing technologies to help U.S. Government agencies implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems.

In this role, you will join a team of highly talented engineers building and operating Amazon Simple Queue and Notification Services, Kinesis Data Streams (KDS), and AWS Managed Flink and Kafka, services instrumental to some of our customers’ most sensitive workflows. This is a great opportunity to have direct impact to some of the largest-scaled systems in the world and work with some of the smartest people in the industry, while having a huge impact.

A successful Systems Development Engineer should be focused on troubleshooting complex system operations, not just on a server level but enterprise wide. Additionally, you will take part and be responsible for developing and building exciting new features for these services - further enabling our customers’ mission. You should also have a solid foundation in multiple operating systems, networking and general knowledge of cloud services. You will work with Amazon's largest and most demanding customers to address specific needs across a full suite of services. You will dive deep into technical issues and work diligently to improve the customer experience.

The candidate selected must be a U.S. citizen. Upon start, the selected candidate must obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance and will be sponsored for a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities Amazon has a fast-paced environment where we “Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History.” On a “typical” day engineers might deep dive to root cause a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way, consult with the top engineers at Amazon, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational issues.

You'll be part of a world-class team in a fast-paced environment that has the entrepreneurial feel of a start-up. This is an opportunity to operate and engineer systems on a massive scale, and to gain top-notch experience in cloud computing. You'll be surrounded by people who are smart, passionate about cloud computing, and believe that world class service is critical to customer success. You'll become a master at distributed systems troubleshooting, response, measurement, and automation. You will design and build the operational scalability that sustains the platform's insane growth. You will be able to measure your success by its visible impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of government services for our nation.

A day in the life Every day is Day 1 at Amazon. On a typical day, our Systems Development Engineers will support AWS Storage and Data services engineering and operations by completing activities including but not limited to: - Region and feature builds - Manage and monitoring systems health and status - Provisioning devices, assisting with data ingestion, and device cleaning - Troubleshooting device, network, and/or configuration related issues - Identifying, documenting, and communicating engineering and operations recommendations to team members - Writing and disseminating after action reports capturing key events, actions taken, and future mitigation plans - Providing on-call support when necessary

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
