Job Description

Responsible for managing, leading and developing software engineering teams, planning software projects, creation of documentation and delivering software products for internal as well as external customers. This role also requires that the individual can interact and work with their counterparts globally to ensure effective delivery of the projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring and career planning of team members in addition providing and ensuring consistent project planning, test strategy development, cost and risk management throughout all projects.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Drive the project planning, execution, and meeting deliverable goals
  • Work with other organizations, including Test/Development/Release, in releasing the product to customers
  • Hire strong engineers, Developing and growing the engineering skills of the team
  • Responsible for conducting test review and ensuring quality test coverage
  • Facilitating the software engineering team interaction, coordination and communications with counterparts across geographies
  • Leading brainstorming sessions, conducting post-mortem analysis after releases, reviewing, and providing input into engineering projects requirements
  • Driving critical issues and interface with functional teams
  • Individual goal planning and evaluation of team engineers in accordance with AMD policies
  • Providing periodic management/executive updates. Maintaining productivity and morale of the team
  • Managing teams of varying roles, varying sizes, and responsibilities
  • Leading teams to evaluate and excel in enhancing efficiency and effectiveness leveraging AI

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Good exposure and experience of managing a team of 5 or more engineers for atleast 4 years and working on product teams in total ~15+ years
  • Strong technical skills and experience in software testing (manual and automation) in Linux and Windows environment
  • Experience in testing firmware, BIOS, driver, or PC(CPU/GPU) based applications
  • Wxperience in leading teams towards integration of advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) and autonomous agents into core product suites.
  • Hands on prompt engineering
  • Ability to handle and manage multiple teams
  • Guide and formulate test strategy/ test plan to meet project demands
  • Successful product lifecycle experience, from the conceptual stage through product launch and post-launch support
  • Strong project management skills and experience with project management techniques such as scheduling, budgeting, and risk management
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and disciplined approach to problem solving and ability to make business decisions in a technical environment
  • Evaluate, guide, mentor, and plan career growth for the team
  • Ensure creation and maintenance of test documentation. Generate periodic reports (weekly, monthly etc.)
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed development/testing teams
  • Effective collaboration and influencing skills to achieve business goals across teams and organizations
  • Keen eye for detail and ability to lead from the front
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Hands-on with any scripting/programming language (python, shell, C/C++, Java, etc.) will be added advantage
  • Hands-on with any bug tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.)
  • Hands-on with any version control tools (GitHub, Gerrit, Perforce, etc.)
  • Knowledge of one or more CPU/GPU Profiling tools is a plus
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies (e.g. Scrum) will be added advantage

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, AI, or a closely related field
