The posting

The Business Analyst is responsible for leading discovery, facilitation, and requirements development for both technical and non-technical initiatives across the organization. This role partners with stakeholders across departments and business units to identify problems, analyze complex needs, and translate them into clear, actionable requirements that support effective solutions.

The Business Analyst serves as a trusted facilitator and thought partner, supporting alignment and informed decision-making among diverse stakeholder groups. This position requires an experienced analyst who can operate independently, navigate ambiguity, and apply proven business analysis practices. This role helps define the problem space rather than simply documenting proposed solutions and brings clarity in situations where requirements are incomplete, conflicting, or evolving.

Note: This position is considered Hybrid and will need to commute to ACOG's office located in Washington, D.C.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead discovery sessions and stakeholder discussions to define business problems, desired outcomes, success measures, requirements, and assumptions.
  • Analyze and document current and future-state processes, workflows, business rules, and system interactions; identify opportunities to reduce complexity, duplication, and manual work.
  • Review incoming requests, clarify the business need and impact, identify affected owners and teams, prepare intake summaries, and route requests for evaluation and prioritization. Identify recurring themes and intake bottlenecks to support broader improvements.
  • Develop clear, concise, and testable requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for technical and non-technical initiatives, tailoring the analysis approach to the needs and complexity of the work.
  • Identify risks, gaps, and dependencies across projects, business processes, applications, digital platforms, data, integrations, vendors, and support teams; engage appropriate subject-matter experts and delivery partners.
  • Participate in solution design, backlog refinement, and sprint planning to clarify requirements and maintain alignment on decisions, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
  • Partner with QA and business stakeholders to support testing, user acceptance, and implementation readiness, including changes to workflows, roles, documentation, training, support, and ongoing ownership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational priorities and strategic initiatives.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced business analysis skills, including requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and validation.
  • Exceptional facilitation skills with the ability to lead productive discussions among diverse, cross-functional stakeholder groups.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to decompose complex problems and synthesize information across teams and departments.
  • Ability to gather and organize information about business impact, urgency, risk, dependencies, and expected value to support intake and prioritization decisions.
  • Ability to recognize when a request may involve applications, integrations, data, security, infrastructure, digital platforms, or vendor dependencies and engage the appropriate subject-matter experts.
  • Proficiency in writing high-quality user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and drive outcomes without close supervision.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience performing business analysis in complex organizational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading requirements and facilitation efforts for cross-functional, multi-department initiatives.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality requirements and user stories that support successful solution delivery.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks, including Scrum, and supporting analysis practices such as intake process, requirements triage, backlog refinement and user story development.
  • Experience using tools such as Wrike, Jira, Azure DevOps, Lucidchart, Miro, Visio, or similar platforms for intake, requirements management, backlog support and process modeling.
  • Experience working on both technology-focused and business-focused projects.
  • Experience within membership associations or similar organizations is helpful but not required.
  • Strong understanding of organizational operations, change impacts, and stakeholder management.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
