Job Description

If you live in Australia or New Zealand, you’ve likely heard of AMP. But at a time when society is changing, we are too. We’re now a nimbler business with new leadership and thinking.

For us, these are exciting times. There’s a real potential for big thinkers to help us redefine what financial services could be. And turn our legacy into something even more positive and powerful for the future.

Help people create their tomorrow, while you create yours

We help people with their banking, super, retirement and finances. Through upturns, downturns, recessions, and major life transitions. Every day, we help people see and make more of their financial potential, so that they can create their tomorrow. And we’ve been doing it for over 170 years.

If we do our job well, we genuinely add to the prosperity of our country and its people.

This role is responsible for supporting the development and execution of AMP Customer Protection Strategy, with a particular focus on AML/CTF transaction monitoring, Fraud & Scams transaction monitoring and controls, Sanctions screening, financial crime intelligence, risk assessment, and detection capability uplift.

The role will leverage intelligence, data analytics, emerging threat insights and regulatory requirements to identify financial crime risks and improve the effectiveness of the first line financial crime controls within Enterprise Customer Protection. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the enhancement of transaction monitoring and sanctions screening capabilities, strengthening risk-based controls and ensuring compliance with AML/CTF obligations while balancing customer, regulatory and commercial outcomes

How will you make an impact

  • Lead the Enterprise Customer Protection strategy, strengthening the organisation’s approach to fraud, scams and financial crime.
  • Identify emerging fraud, scam and financial crime threats through intelligence, thematic analysis and industry insights, driving stronger detection and preventative controls.
  • Lead regulatory change, risk assessments and control governance, including material issue and incident management and control uplift.
  • Partner with Financial Crime Analytics to strengthen transaction monitoring, scenario design, detection capabilities and intelligence-led controls.
  • Lead Customer Protection’s support for AUSTRAC obligations and regulatory engagement, ensuring regulatory requirements are effectively managed and embedded.
  • Provide strong governance and executive reporting across material risks, controls, regulatory matters, issues and strategic priorities.

What you will bring to the role

  • Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Risk or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Ideally at least 7+ years’ relevant experience across financial crime, fraud, risk, strategy or governance within financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of fraud, scams, AML/CTF and sanctions, including associated regulatory obligations, risk and control frameworks.
  • Demonstrated Line 1 risk management experience, including risk assessments, Risk in Change, issues, incidents, root cause analysis and control uplift.
  • Strong understanding of financial crime detection, transaction monitoring and intelligence-led controls.
  • Working knowledge of AUSTRAC obligations, regulatory change and regulatory engagement, including supporting regulatory responses.
  • Experience preparing high-quality Board, Executive and Risk Committee papers and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of banking and/or wealth management products, processes and associated financial crime risks.

Who you are

You are a strategic and commercially minded risk leader who can translate complex fraud, scam and financial crime risks and emerging threats into clear priorities and practical outcomes. You bring strong analytical and investigative judgement, with the ability to identify themes and root causes and use data and intelligence to inform decisions and control improvements.

You are a confident and credible communicator who can simplify complex risk matters for senior audiences. You bring sound judgement and situational awareness and are comfortable navigating complex, sensitive and high-profile risk and regulatory matters.

You build trusted relationships and influence effectively across senior leadership, Line 1, Line 2, regulators and operational teams. Collaborative in your approach, you can lead through influence across multidisciplinary, onshore and offshore teams to deliver enterprise-wide outcomes.

Why we think you’ll love working at AMP

In fact, most of what makes AMP such a welcoming, enjoyable place to work are our people. Wherever you go, you’ll find moments to connect, feel valued and do meaningful work.

Whether it’s through our first-class leaders who are invested in you and your success. Through year-round opportunities to volunteer, fundraise and give back to the community. Or in the everyday challenges you face as we work together to strengthen this great organisation. Challenges that will stretch you, amplify your potential and compound the impact you have.

We believe in the power of inclusion and diversity

We’re dedicated to fostering inclusion, diversity, and a warm feeling of belonging at AMP. It sparks creativity, ignites innovation, and turns up the dial on the quality of our decisions and performance. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
