The posting

Enfield Council is one of London's largest local authorities, delivering vital public services to a diverse community of residents and businesses. The council focuses on improving local communities through investment in housing, education, environmental initiatives, economic development, and support services that help residents thrive.

Apprentify are hiring on behalf of our client.

The AI and Automation Apprentice will support the Council's Digital Services team to identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and service delivery through the use of AI and Automation. Working alongside colleagues across the organisation, the postholder will help analyse business processes, support the implementation of low code and AI-enabled solutions, and promote the safe, responsible and effective use of the technology. The role provides practical experience in digital transformation while contributing to projects that reduce manual effort, improve data quality and enhance customer and staff experiences.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with colleagues to identify where AI, automation and digital tools could improve services, productivity, accuracy and the experience of customers and staff.
  • Map and review processes, user needs, systems and data to understand problems, assess whether automation is suitable and agree clear requirements.
  • Support workshops, process reviews, solution design, pilots and proofs of concept, and help evaluate tools against business needs, costs, benefits and risks.
  • Under supervision, help configure and implement approved low-code, no-code, automation and AI solutions, including prompts, workflows, integrations and secure data use.
  • Plan and carry out testing, record results and defects, support user testing and help confirm that solutions are accurate, reliable, secure and accessible.
  • Follow Council policies and legal, ethical and governance requirements for responsible AI, data protection, information security, equality, employment and records management.
  • Support risk and impact assessments, keep clear records and consider fairness, bias, transparency, human oversight, accessibility and the effect of change on staff.
  • Create clear process maps, guidance, training materials and technical notes, and help colleagues understand and use approved tools confidently.
  • Monitor solutions, user feedback and results; report benefits, problems and lessons learned; support improvements; and refer specialist issues when needed.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and approved suppliers, organise assigned work, meet deadlines and explain technical information in a clear and accessible way.
  • Complete apprenticeship learning, reviews and portfolio evidence, act on feedback and keep up to date with relevant AI, automation and digital developments.
  • Manage own performance and development, comply with Council policies and procedures, and undertake other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade, apprenticeship and level of supervision.

The AI and Automation Apprentice will report to the Head of AI and Automation and will be embedded within the AI and Automation Team in Digital Services. The Head of AI and Automation will oversee and direct the apprentice's day-to-day activities. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
