The Legal and Compliance Specialist will provide support to the Office of General Counsel by assisting with regulatory compliance activities, policy governance, regulatory monitoring, filings, audits, and legal research. This role emphasizes accuracy, consistency, discretion, and adherence to applicable legal and regulatory requirements within a highly regulated insurance environment.

  • Under the direction of the Director of Compliance, draft, update, and maintain compliance‑related policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal governance standards.
  • Maintain compliance calendars, including annual certifications, periodic reviews, training cycles, and regulatory deadlines.
  • Oversee, under direction of the Deputy General Counsel, appropriate intellectual property filings.
  • Provide administrative and project support to the Legal Department, including scheduling, reporting, document management, and special projects as assigned.
  • Support the administration of legal and compliance requirements, under the direction of the Director of Compliance, across the organization, ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable policy, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Work independently and collaboratively on projects involving regulatory filings, audits, regulatory change management, state‑by‑state legal research, contract review, and vendor oversight.
  • Support corporate compliance responsibilities related to privacy, conflicts of interest, records retention, artificial intelligence, and information security risks, including working with business units on annual certification processes.
  • Assist the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and Director of Compliance in the execution of compliance initiatives and regulatory obligations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assist in ensuring the company remains current and compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assist business units with compliance related inquiries.
  • Coordinate business unit responses to regulatory inquiries, complaints and non‑financial regulatory audits, including market conduct examinations.
  • Assist, under direction, with the company’s disclosures related to market conduct examinations and regulatory reviews.
  • Respond to internal compliance‑related inquiries from employees, as appropriate.
  • Collect, track, and assist with the review of conflict of interest disclosures.
  • Prepare compliance‑related presentations, training materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Stay informed of insurance industry compliance trends and assist in recommending updates to internal processes, controls, and documentation.
  • Prepare and submit applicable business filings with state governmental agencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Paralegal certificate is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a legal, compliance, or regulatory support role, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks, including policy governance, training administration, regulatory filings, audits, and examination support.
  • Experience drafting, maintaining, and organizing compliance policies, procedures, and related documentation.
  • Strong research, writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize legal and regulatory requirements clearly for internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and document management systems commonly used in legal and compliance environments.
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple concurrent obligations.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to operate effectively within established legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across legal, compliance, and business teams.
  • Adaptable and responsive to evolving regulatory requirements and organizational priorities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
