The posting

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Water Treatment Specialist for our ISS2 contact supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island. It is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule of 3 months on the island and 1 month off unpaid, Wake Island is 2,100 miles away from HNL. While working on-site housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility.  All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. You are responsible for the flight from your home base to HNL.  Transportation to wake island is provided by government sponsored aircraft.  This is a negotiated union position.   Essential Duties & Job Functions:

Operates water treatment equipment to filter and disinfect water for human consumption and for industrial use. Operates and maintains reverse osmosis filters. Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow of raw water into treating plant. Injects specified amounts of chemicals, such as chlorine and potassium permanganate, into water or adjusts automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect and clarify water. Cleans tanks and filter beds using backwashing (reverse flow of water). Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment using hand and power tools. Tests water samples to determine chlorine residual, acidity, color, and impurities using colorimeter, turbidimeter, and conductivity meter. Records data, such as residual content of chemicals, water turbidity, and water pressure. Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater septic system and drying beds to control flow and processing of sewage. Inventories and requisitions the supplies necessary for the effective operation of the water and wastewater area. Understands federal, state, and contract-specific regulations regarding water and wastewater treatment. Plans, organizes, and coordinates the work of water and wastewater operatives. Ensures compliance with corporate safety, policies and other applicable corporate, federal, and state specific regulations. Performs related work as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Possess a Level II (or equivalent) Water Treatment Certification from any U.S. State or Territory Must be able to obtain and maintain a USAF Level 2 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification within six (6) weeks of hire

Certification must be renewed every three (3) years. Certification renewal requirements include completion of 48 hours of training with no more than 12 training hours focused on operator safety.

Obtain a Level I or II Reverse Osmosis Specialist Certification within twelve (12) months of start date at WIA. Obtain a Level III or IV Reverse Osmosis Specialist Certification within eighteen (18) months of start date at WIA. (Note that Level II Certification must be earned prior to being eligible to earn Level III Certification). Certification examples include i) David H. Paul (DHP), Inc. RO Specialist Certification, and ii) International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) International Reverse Osmosis Certification (IROC)

Current valid state-issued driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquires (NACI) background check

Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test. Ability to speak, read and write English
