The posting

Ready to shape the future of cancer care in Finland? As our Country Oncology Scientific Lead, you will hold the senior oncology advocacy role in the country and help turn the national cancer strategy into real impact for patients and the healthcare system.

Our AstraZeneca Nordic Marketing Company employs around 550 people and has offices located in Espoo, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm. AstraZeneca Nordic is a recognized leader in its core therapy areas and aims to improve the lives of millions of people. This is an area where you are free to be more – you are encouraged to challenge traditional ways and test your curiosity. We drive innovative science, deliver key launches, build close collaboration and partnerships within health care.

Your role

As Country Oncology Scientific Lead, you hold the senior oncology advocacy role in the country, shaping the scientific and policy environment to support implementation of the national cancer strategy and guideline-directed medical therapy. Your focus is on country-level delivery within the local organisation, supported by strategic direction and standards from Nordic and global teams.

Accountabilities:

Country scientific strategy

  • Turn the oncology strategy into an integrated country scientific advocacy plan across therapy areas, focused on the highest-impact patient and healthcare-system needs.
  • Develop a clear country narrative and policy approach together with Medical, Commercial, Market Access, Corporate Affairs, Evidence/RWE and other relevant functions.
  • Use field insights, external data and analytics to prioritise stakeholders, initiatives and resources.

Launch excellence and lifecycle integration

  • Coordinate the country medical readiness contribution to launch and lifecycle plans, including milestones, advocacy activities, roles, responsibilities and risk management.
  • Identify synergies across oncology therapy areas while staying aligned with each TAL’s scientific strategy and evidence priorities.

Market access, policy and system impact

  • Coordinate the clinical and medical contribution to HTA, formulary and guideline work with Market Access/HEOR and the relevant TALs.
  • Engage national oncology leaders, professional societies, registries, guideline bodies, payer/HTA stakeholders and senior healthcare decision-makers in a compliant, non-promotional manner.
  • Identify barriers across therapy-area pathways, such as diagnostics, testing capacity, referral pathways and time to treatment, and lead collaborative initiatives with measurable outcomes.

Evidence, insights and clinical-trial enablement

  • Consolidate and prioritise country evidence needs across therapy areas, in alignment with TALs, Medical Evidence/RWE and Clinical Operations.
  • Set up a consistent local process for capturing, synthesising and routing MSA insights into therapy-area plans and cross-therapy-area country priorities.
  • Connect with country stakeholders, networks, registries and diagnostic partners to help remove system barriers to evidence generation and trial delivery.

Line-management and capability building

  • Line-manage the MSA team, including goal setting, performance and development discussions, recruitment, wellbeing and resource allocation across therapy areas, to ensure consistent scientific engagement, insight capture and delivery against agreed country priorities.
  • Guide and support the MSAs on country governance, launch standards, cross-therapy-area coordination and alignment with access priorities.
  • Build local medical capability through coaching and training in scientific advocacy, compliant engagement, insight-to-action, HTA-related medical contribution and launch excellence.
  • Share learnings with Nordic and global colleagues and adapt proven practices to the local healthcare context.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • MD or advanced life-sciences degree, such as PhD or PharmD.
  • Significant oncology medical affairs experience in the relevant country.
  • Strong understanding of the national healthcare system, HTA processes, clinical pathways and data/registry landscape.
  • Proven ability to engage scientific, clinical, policy and access stakeholders in a compliant, non-promotional manner.
  • Strategic thinking, prioritization and ability to lead through influence in a matrix organisation.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including line-management of direct reports.
  • Excellent communication in the local language and English.
  • Ability to use data, analytics and AI-enabled insights with scientific rigor, compliance and sound human judgment.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced degree or additional business qualification, such as MD, PhD or MBA.
  • Experience working across multiple oncology therapy areas.
  • Experience engaging HTA bodies, guideline committees, professional societies or registries.
  • Track record in launch readiness, governance, evidence generation or healthcare-system improvement.
  • Experience with digital-first medical planning and omnichannel scientific engagement.
  • Experience in building capabilities and coaching colleagues beyond own team.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
