Producer (Senior) - Hipster Whale

About Us

At Hipster Whale, we're passionate about creating bright and funny arcade action games that appeal to broad audiences - games that players will continue to enjoy for years to come!

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Producer to join our team in a permanent, ongoing role. This is a highly collaborative role for someone who brings clarity, focus and momentum to game development. You’ll work across multiple projects and disciplines, helping teams plan effectively, make informed decisions, manage risks and deliver high-quality games on time and within scope.

About the Role

You’ll support both new development and live-ops releases across several mobile titles, partnering with a variety of disciplines, platform partners and other stakeholders. You’ll manage schedules and dependencies, keep communication flowing, and help teams stay motivated and focused on shared goals.

The ideal candidate has experience successfully shipping commercial games, strong knowledge of production practices and Agile development, and the communication skills to work confidently with people at every level of an organisation.

This is a full-time, ongoing position. We’re ideally looking for someone based in Melbourne and available to start as soon as possible. Remote arrangements may be considered for the right candidate, with preference given to applicants based locally. Remote candidates should have significant overlap with standard Australian business hours, or be willing to adjust their schedule accordingly. Applicants based in Australia must hold appropriate Australian working rights.

Hipster Whale supports a hybrid working arrangement, with a minimum of two days per week in our Melbourne studio — currently Mondays and Thursdays. We also support flexibility to accommodate individual needs wherever possible.

We’re proud to foster an inclusive and welcoming work environment. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and perspectives.

What You'll Do

  • Own production across multiple projects, including new development and live-ops releases.
  • Create and maintain project plans and release roadmaps, ensuring priorities, milestones, dependencies and key dates are clear and up to date.
  • Help teams prioritise effectively, manage scope and make clear trade-offs between quality, time and resources.
  • Identify risks, dependencies and delivery issues early, then work with teams and stakeholders to develop practical solutions.
  • Facilitate effective communication and decision-making within teams and with external stakeholders. This includes running meetings, documenting decisions and tracking actions.
  • Facilitate collaboration between disciplines and make dependencies visible so teams can work effectively together.
  • Keep Jira and Notion accurate and up to date so they provide a reliable source of truth for roadmaps, tasks, documentation and releases.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
  • Support continuous improvement of our production processes, tools and ways of working.
  • Help create a psychologically safe, collaborative environment where people feel comfortable sharing ideas, raising concerns and taking creative risks.
  • Be a strong advocate for the quality of our games and our team values.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years experience in the games industry or similar, having delivered multiple commercial projects
  • Experience working on mobile games and familiarity with the mobile release processes, including Apple App Store and Google Play
  • A deep understanding of core production principles and practices, including Agile methodologies
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience working across disciplines and with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation
  • The ability to identify problems early, communicate them clearly and help teams reach practical decisions
  • Confidence working with schedules, dependencies, project documentation and spreadsheets
  • Experience using task and project management tools such as Jira
  • Enthusiasm for games and a good sense of humour

Bonus Points

  • Experience working on Apple Arcade titles
  • Experience supporting live-ops development, regular content updates or post-launch product development
  • Scrum Master, Agile or project management certification.
  • Professional experience in another game development discipline, such as design, engineering, art, or QA
  • Experience improving production processes, team structures or development workflows
  • Just because we’re calling out for a Producer, doesn’t mean we aren’t extremely interested in hearing about any particular interests you have that may contribute positively to our studio!

Critical Info

  • Competitive salary, based on skills and experience
  • This is a permanent, on-going position.
  • Applications are open until [DATE]
  • We aim to move through the recruitment process as quickly as possible and will respond to all applicants regardless of the outcome.
  • Due to the large volume of applications we receive, we’re unfortunately not able to provide specific feedback to each applicant.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
