Job Title: Compliance Manager

Location: King's Cross, London

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Hybrid

At AustralianSuper, we truly care about our colleagues. We know work and life are intertwined. That’s why we support the diverse needs of everyone and have policies that enable us all to thrive and be truly flexible. We ensure diversity is celebrated for the opportunity it provides us all to learn and grow and deliver better outcomes for members. We are dedicated to building a high-performance environment underpinned by a strong risk culture, ensuring we deliver the best outcomes for our members.

Your New Role

As Manager, Compliance (Fixed Term Contract), you will support the Senior Manager, Compliance in delivering regulatory change, obligation management and compliance monitoring for AustralianSuper’s UK separate legal operating entities, AustralianSuper UK Ltd and AustralianSuper Direct Investments UK Ltd.

You will focus on applying UK regulatory requirements and expectations, working closely with stakeholders in the UK and Australia to align local activity with global policies and practices. You will also contribute to the design and continued improvement of global approaches that support strong governance and regulatory compliance across the UK entities.

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining compliance frameworks, artefacts and controls, including adapting global policies for UK regulatory requirements.
  • Reviewing and enhancing governance, risk and control systems, with clear links between risks, obligations and controls within GRC systems.
  • Supporting the design and embedding of the international regulatory change framework and providing secretariat support to the International Regulatory Change Forum.
  • Coordinating regulatory change activity across international offices, including reporting, governance packs, implementation oversight and GRC administration.
  • Designing and delivering the annual Compliance Monitoring Programme, including risk assessments, thematic reviews, frequency-based monitoring, testing methodologies and reporting.
  • Preparing clear reports and papers for management and UK entity Boards, with appropriate escalation and recording of exceptions and issues.
  • Supporting compliance projects, assurance activity, internal audit requirements, incident reviews and the development of compliance training.
  • Building effective relationships across the UK business and with global stakeholders, while supporting consistent and well-managed engagement with the FCA.
  • Promoting a professional, collaborative and solutions-focused environment and role modelling a strong risk culture.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience in compliance, risk or audit advisory roles within the UK financial services sector.
  • A strong understanding of compliance and risk management frameworks, with the ability to develop practical, fit-for-purpose controls and governance arrangements.
  • Proficiency in navigating and interpreting the FCA Handbook, together with sound knowledge of other UK financial services regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of regulatory change, compliance monitoring, thematic reviews, assurance or GRC systems.
  • The ability to lead and influence senior stakeholders and work collaboratively across international teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong report writing and the confidence to raise and escalate issues appropriately.
  • A university degree or equivalent experience.
  • A relevant compliance qualification, such as ICA, IMC or CISI Level 6 Diploma, is desirable.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
