The posting

aculocity

Join the dynamic and fast-paced world of Aculocity, a global technology consulting company dedicated to revolutionizing business processes through cutting-edge technology solutions. Since our formal inception in 2006 (and informal in 1999), we've been at the forefront of delivering tailor-made software development solutions, seamless software system implementations, powerful business intelligence, and innovative business process solutions.

NetSuite Engineer | Aculocity

Location: Cape Town South Africa

Aculocity is seeking a NetSuite Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and support solutions across the NetSuite platform. You’ll collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, engineers, product owners, support teams, and external partners to translate operational needs into secure, maintainable, and reliable solutions.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong NetSuite development skills with practical business understanding and takes ownership from requirements clarification through deployment and production support.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop NetSuite solutions: Build and maintain customizations using SuiteScript 2.x, SuiteFlow, SuiteTalk, RESTlets, SuiteQL, saved searches, custom records, forms, and fields. Evaluate native capabilities before recommending custom development.
  • Translate requirements into delivery plans: Create technical designs, estimates, development tasks, test scenarios, and deployment plans while identifying dependencies and effects across connected systems.
  • Support key business processes: Deliver solutions for sales orders, purchasing, inventory, receiving, fulfillment, drop-ship processing, item management, e-commerce transactions, and reporting.
  • Build dependable integrations: Connect NetSuite with enterprise platforms using APIs, scripts, files, or approved middleware, incorporating validation, authentication, error handling, retries, duplicate prevention, logging, and reconciliation.
  • Maintain quality and security: Apply coding standards, reusable development patterns, least-privilege access, secure credential handling, and appropriate protection of sensitive data. Address technical debt and improve existing customizations.
  • Test and deploy confidently: Perform developer testing and support business testing across sandbox, UAT, release-preview, and production environments. Prepare deployment instructions, validation steps, rollback procedures, and support notes.
  • Support production operations: Diagnose incidents and failed transactions, complete root-cause analysis, implement preventative improvements, and establish monitoring, alerts, and failure notifications.
  • Collaborate and share knowledge: Use source control, participate in peer reviews, maintain technical documentation and runbooks, support work-request triage, and provide guidance to junior engineers.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • 3+ years of enterprise application development or ERP engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on NetSuite development and support experience.
  • Strong SuiteScript 2.x and JavaScript skills.
  • Experience with SuiteFlow, custom records, saved searches, SuiteQL, transaction scripting, and NetSuite configuration.
  • Experience delivering or substantially contributing to at least one production integration.
  • Practical SQL and data-analysis skills.
  • Experience working across development, sandbox, UAT, and production environments and supporting business-critical production systems.
  • Working understanding of authentication, permissions, access control, API security, and credential handling.
  • Ability to communicate technical decisions, dependencies, risks, and trade-offs clearly.

Experience That Sets You Apart

  • SuiteCommerce or SuiteCommerce Advanced development and support.
  • SuiteCloud Development Framework.
  • NetSuite release-preview and upgrade testing.
  • High-volume item, inventory, order, warehouse, fulfillment, or e-commerce environments.
  • Map/Reduce, scheduled processing, and high-volume data handling.
  • Azure DevOps, Git, automated testing, or continuous integration and delivery tooling.
  • Integration middleware or enterprise integration patterns.
  • Order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, receiving, or drop-ship processes.
  • Collaboration with NetSuite support, implementation partners, or specialist vendors.
  • NetSuite certification or formal NetSuite training.

What Success Looks Like

You’ll independently own moderately complex solutions, work with limited day-to-day supervision, and provide clear visibility into progress, scope changes, and blockers. Your work will meet business requirements, account for platform governance limits and performance needs, and include the testing, monitoring, documentation, and rollback planning needed for reliable operations.

You’ll make recommendations within established architecture and governance standards, escalate material risks before deployment, and deliver solutions that other engineers can confidently maintain and support.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
