The posting

Driven by changing customer behavior, digital transformation, and new technological possibilities, the financial industry is constantly evolving. We are now looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Customer Scalability area within Tech, who together with other managers and product roles wants to help drive Avanza forward!

Our mission is to enable scalable customer growth without increasing operational costs at the same rate. As Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in creating vision, setting goals, and fostering high engagement in alignment with Avanza's strategy.

About the Role

The entire Product & Tech organization consists of around 35 development teams that collectively build our platform, services, and offerings. In your role as Engineering Manager, you will work closely with 1-2 cross-functional teams and have direct line management responsibility for the software developers.

This role is connected to the teams responsible for building and advancing Avanza's customer and account lifecycle. Our objective is to ensure that the entire organization has seamless access to high-quality, reliable, and up-to-date customer and account data whenever needed. You will balance business acumen with technical direction to deliver concrete value for both our customers and the company.

You will also be responsible for/work with:

  • Leading, coaching, and empowering developers in your team while taking full responsibility for line management and the work environment.
  • Creating optimal conditions for a high-performing, healthy team and guiding them toward high-quality, efficient technical deliveries.
  • Ensuring that technical initiatives align with product strategies and supporting teams in building robust, sustainable solutions.
  • Driving our cloud evolution toward GCP and exploring AI-driven ways of working within team processes.
  • Supporting autonomous teams in developing their own working methods while fostering an insight-led, collaborative environment.

Your profile

To thrive as our Engineering Manager, you are a supportive, present leader with a genuine interest in people. You possess strong collaborative skills, a delivery-oriented mindset, and confidence in technical decision-making, enabling you to translate business goals into sustainable architecture and concrete execution.

We would love to see that you have:

  • Proven experience in direct line management and leading software engineers.
  • A background in modern software engineering, ideally with experience in data-intensive systems.
  • A solid understanding of data quality, system architecture, and well-designed APIs.
  • A relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

It is a plus if you have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience in leading through change and driving technical modernization initiatives.
  • Curiosity or hands-on experience regarding AI tools and data-driven software development practices.

To succeed in this role, you bring strong self-leadership, a collaborative approach, and the ability to bridge strategic direction with technical reality. You excel at prioritizing quality, building trust across teams, and empowering your team members to reach their full potential.
