We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role is ideal for a professional with strong control panel design experience who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise, analytical thinking, and creativity to support the design and standardization of high-quality control cabinet solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide electrical CAD design support for control cabinet projects within the Engineering Department
- Translate initial concepts, markups, and rough sketches into detailed, production-ready submittal drawings
- Design control panels and backplanes in compliance with BOM requirements and UL 508A standards
- Lead initiatives to standardize control panel designs and improve internal design processes and best practices
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to meet deadlines and deliverables
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all drawings and documentation
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive component library, including standard drawings, templates, blocks, and design assets
- Select appropriate electrical components (breakers, relays, terminals, wiring, etc.) based on load calculations, application requirements, and industry standards
- Review and troubleshoot wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical documentation
Typical Projects
- Custom industrial control panel designs for manufacturing and automation applications
- UL 508A-compliant panel builds for commercial and industrial systems
- Control cabinet layout optimization and redesign initiatives
- Standardization projects to improve design efficiency and documentation accuracy
- Engineering support for new product development and system upgrades
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in control panel design, layout, and documentation
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical (experience with Zuken, EPLAN, or similar CAD platforms is a plus)
- Strong working knowledge of UL 508A standards and control panel compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Education
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
A formal education in electrical engineering ensures a strong foundation in electrical theory, system design principles, safety standards, and load calculations—critical for producing compliant, reliable, and production-ready control panel designs.
