Electrical Engineer – Drafting Background

Location: Sandy Springs, GA

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a strong drafting background who is ready to take the next step in their career. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least two years of drafting experience who wants to expand their skills and grow into a full Electrical Engineering role.

The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced engineering team, supporting the design and development of electrical systems for multifamily and commercial construction projects. Our client offers hands-on training in BIM, 3D modeling, and estimating, along with mentorship and opportunities for long-term career advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and drafting of electrical systems for multifamily and commercial buildings.
  • Support project engineers with electrical layouts, load calculations, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Assist with project estimating, material takeoffs, and cost analysis.
  • Learn and apply BIM and 3D modeling tools to improve design accuracy and project efficiency.
  • Review construction plans and specifications to ensure compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients to support successful project execution.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1+ years of drafting experience, preferably using AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Exposure to electrical design, electrical systems, or estimating is preferred.
  • Strong interest in transitioning from drafting into a full Electrical Engineering role.
  • Multifamily construction project experience is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on-site in Sandy Springs, GA, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Spanish-speaking ability is a plus but is not required.
