What You Will Contribute:

Senior Electrical Engineer – PCB & Embedded Hardware

Bring your electrical engineering expertise to products that move from concept through production.

Badger Meter is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the development, testing, and ongoing support of electronic products. In this hands-on engineering role, you’ll lead the electrical hardware portions of product development projects, with a strong focus on PCB design, analog and digital circuitry, embedded systems, hardware verification, and troubleshooting.

You’ll have the autonomy to solve complex technical challenges while collaborating closely with engineering leaders and cross-functional teams. From designing and validating new hardware to troubleshooting existing products in production, you’ll have the opportunity to influence the full product lifecycle while also providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the technical lead for electrical hardware on product development projects, owning PCB and component-level circuit design.
  • Design and develop PCB-based electronic hardware, including analog and digital circuitry for embedded products.
  • Support hardware selection, component integration, prototyping, troubleshooting, and resolution of component-related issues.
  • Plan and execute design verification testing to confirm compliance with product requirements and applicable standards, including UL/CSA, CE/EMC, and FM.
  • Develop production test methodologies, validation fixtures, specifications, and procedures to support successful product introduction and manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot PCBs and electronic products using tools such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and environmental test chambers.
  • Create and finalize hardware design documentation, work instructions, and engineering change requests.
  • Provide advanced electrical hardware support for sustaining engineering and production-related challenges.
  • Collaborate as part of multidisciplinary engineering teams to define project schedules, budgets, technical requirements, and risks.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional electrical/electronic product development experience.
  • Strong experience with PCB hardware design and development, including integration into embedded and stand-alone electronic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of both analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience designing hardware around embedded microcontrollers or microprocessors, such as 8-bit, 16-bit, or ARM-based architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Experience taking electronic hardware through the development lifecycle, including design, prototyping, testing, debugging, documentation, and production support.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Experience debugging and prototyping embedded hardware systems.
  • Experience with sensing technologies and interfaces, such as magnetic or optical sensing.
  • Experience supporting electrical products in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience working with engineering standards and product certifications such as UL/CSA, CE/EMC, or FM.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in a relevant electronics or product technology area.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other engineers.

Why This Role

This is a great opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys staying close to the hardware. You won’t be limited to one phase of development. You’ll have the opportunity to design circuits, work with PCBs, prototype and test hardware, troubleshoot real-world product issues, support manufacturing, and provide technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle.

You’ll join a collaborative engineering environment where you can bring your ideas forward, take ownership of complex technical problems, and help shape the next generation of Badger Meter products.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
