Bain Capital Credit Overview
Bain Capital Credit is a leading global credit specialist with approximately $65 billion in assets under management as of December 31, 2025. We invest across the full spectrum of credit strategies, including leveraged loans, high-yield bonds, direct lending, structured products, non-performing loans, and equities. Through our numerous funds, we have the ability to invest in every level of a company’s capital structure from secured debt to equity, and we can also provide capital to growing companies with unique financing needs.
Bain Capital Credit has a world-class team of over 115 investment professionals with extensive experience analyzing and managing high-yield investments.
We are currently hiring a VP to work with our Credit Real Estate Debt team in our New York office. The team invests across a broad range of real estate credit opportunities, including senior mortgages, subordinate debt, preferred equity, construction financing, and other structured investments. The role will involve evaluating, underwriting, structuring, executing, and managing investments across property types and markets.
The successful candidate will be expected to exercise strong investment judgment, lead transaction execution, and work closely with senior investment professionals, borrowers, sponsors, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and underwrite real estate credit investment opportunities across asset classes and geographies.
- Lead transaction execution from initial diligence through closing.
- Assess property fundamentals, sponsorship, business plans, capital structures, market dynamics, and downside risk.
- Build and oversee financial analyses, sensitivities, and investment committee materials.
- Structure and negotiate transaction terms, including leverage, pricing, covenants, reserves, guarantees, and other credit protections.
- Coordinate legal, financial, market, and third-party diligence.
- Present investment recommendations and key considerations to senior investment professionals and investment committees.
- Develop and maintain relationships with borrowers, sponsors, lenders, brokers, and other market participants.
- Monitor portfolio investments and evaluate amendments, extensions, restructurings, and other post-closing matters.
- Lead and develop junior investment professionals across underwriting and execution.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in real estate private credit, commercial real estate lending, real estate investing, investment banking, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience underwriting and executing complex commercial real estate transactions.
- Strong understanding of real estate valuation, property-level cash flow, capital structures, and credit documentation.
- Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to identify and assess key investment risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to develop junior team members.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Compensation:
Expected Annual Base Salary: $200k - $250k
Actual base salary will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to role, function, level, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position may be
