The SAM Analyst will work as part of a global team and will support activities focused on reducing software licensing risks, improving transparency over software usage and entitlements, and supporting contract renewal and capacity management processes. The role requires good analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with stakeholders from procurement, finance, IT operations, service ownership, and license management.

  • Software contracts and renewal-related documentation with external software vendors,
  • Proof of purchase records containing information on purchased licenses, quantities, maintenance, subscriptions, and relevant licensing metrics,
  • Software deployment and software usage data, including users, installations, servers, environments, countries, and consumption information,
  • Reference data such as asset status, application or service ownership, environment, CMDB information, and virtualization scenarios,
  • Cost, budget, forecast, and renewal-related data, where applicable.

The SAM Analyst will help support the contract renewal process by maintaining trackers, following up on open actions, collecting input from IT Managers and other stakeholders, and preparing status updates for the HoIT. The role will also include supporting the preparation of license and usage analyses, identifying data gaps, and helping document risks, assumptions, and next steps.

Many different software vendors are in scope, requiring rapid learning. All software types may be involved, including desktop, server, SaaS-delivered applications and cloud-related licensing models. Therefore, the job requires a good grounding in IT practices and terminology, as well as willingness to learn vendor-specific licensing rules and contract structures.

The job will involve regular work with vendor licensing terms and conditions, licensing metrics, entitlement information, software usage data, and assessments of how software is being used within the group. The SAM Analyst is not expected to act as a senior licensing expert from day one, but should be able to support structured analysis, documentation, stakeholder follow-up, and continuous improvement of the SAM and contract management process.

We are looking for:

  • Around 1–2 years of experience in a Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, license management, IT service management, or consulting environment
  • Initial experience with IT asset management, discovery tools, SAM tools, or related data sources such as ServiceNow, Flexera, CMDB data, SCCM, Intune, or similar platforms
  • Basic understanding of Software Asset Management concepts, including entitlements, deployments, usage, license metrics, renewals, compliance risks, and optimization opportunities
  • Basic understanding of software contracts, proof of purchase documentation, renewals, maintenance, subscriptions, and vendor documentation
  • Ability to support the execution, documentation, and improvement of SAM and contract management processes and procedures
  • Foundational knowledge of software licensing concepts and willingness to develop vendor-specific knowledge for key publishers such as Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe, SAP, or similar vendors
  • Ability to support license entitlement and usage reconciliation by comparing purchased rights, deployments, users, consumption, and contract metrics
  • Ability to support contract renewal activities, including renewal tracking, stakeholder follow-up, information collection, documentation of open actions, and escalation of blockers
  • Good knowledge of IT Service Management processes and willingness to work in alignment with defined governance, process documentation, and reporting cadence
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including data cleansing, filtering, lookups, pivot tables, comparison of data sets, and basic reporting
  • Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written, German is a plus
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with IT Managers, Procurement, IT teams, Finance, License Management, and project stakeholders
  • Good presentation skills, using PowerPoint and structured reports
  • Basic understanding of infrastructure concepts such as servers, users, applications, environments, virtualization, SaaS solutions, and cloud-related licensing concepts
  • Experience with CMDB data, ideally ServiceNow, or willingness to work with CMDB-based information
  • Ability to work with multiple data sources and identify inconsistencies, missing information, data quality issues, and potential risks
  • Ability to maintain accurate trackers, meeting notes, action logs, process documentation, and reporting files
  • High standards of work quality, due diligence, confidentiality, and attention to detail
  • Proactive mindset, willingness to learn quickly, and ability to work in a structured way in a complex international client environment

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
