You will be joining our Planning team as a Planner, based in our Tauranga office as part of a nationwide planning team of 60 and within a supportive Tauranga office of approx. 300 people.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across Aotearoa New Zealand, collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality planning advice and project outcomes.

In this role, you’ll bring your technical planning experience, collaborative approach and client focus to a variety of urban and environmental planning projects. You’ll work alongside experienced planners and specialists across Beca, providing an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience, strengthen your technical capability and continue developing your career in planning.

As well as your technical role, you will also be charged with managing packages of work (financial and programme), supporting junior planners and liaising with clients and stakeholders. You’ll also work closely with multidisciplinary teams including transport specialists, landscape architects, urban designers, environmental advisors and engineers. We’re passionate about supporting your career development, and you’ll have access to ongoing learning opportunities, including our internal focus on building capability around resource management reform.

This role can be part-time or full time.

Ko wai koe | About you

You’ll be ready for the next challenge in your planning career and looking for an opportunity to continue developing your experience while contributing to a broad range of projects.

You will have:

  • 5+ years’ New Zealand experience in urban and/or environmental planning.
  • Sound knowledge of the RMA (and new planning legislation) with practical experience in statutory and/or strategic planning.
  • A collaborative working style and experience contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, mana whenua, stakeholders and the public.
  • Previous consultancy experience would be desirable, and experience across the water, transport and energy markets, or with industrial and government clients, would be an advantage.

If you don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We’re keen to hear from all suitable candidates.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
