Job Description

The Senior UX Designer leads complex, end-to-end product design work for Relias products and major workflows. This role partners with Product Management and Engineering from discovery and problem definition through interaction design, prototyping, validation, delivery, and post-launch learning. The Senior UX Designer applies user insight, design-system standards, accessibility requirements, and outcome data to make sound design decisions, align stakeholders, and improve the quality and consistency of the product experience. The role is a senior individual contributor and does not have direct people-management responsibility.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead the design of complex product experiences and major workflows from problem definition through implementation, translating user needs and business objectives into clear experience strategies, user flows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Make and document design decisions that balance usability, accessibility, design-system standards, technical feasibility, delivery constraints, and product outcomes.
  • Partner with engineering through refinement, development, and quality review to clarify intended behavior, resolve design questions, and confirm the implemented experience aligns with approved design intent.
  • Partner with Product Management to define research goals, select appropriate methods, and plan research or usability testing for complex product questions.
  • Conduct or support interviews, usability tests, concept validation, and other research activities; synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into clear design priorities and recommendations.
  • Define or contribute to experience success measures and use product analytics, user feedback, research findings, and post-launch evidence to evaluate outcomes and guide iteration.
  • Partner with product managers, business partners, other designers, and engineering teams to frame problems, evaluate options, establish a shared design direction, and maintain alignment through delivery.
  • Partner with designers and product managers across product pillars to assess cross-product impacts, account for dependencies, and ensure proposed design changes support a cohesive product experience.
  • Present design rationale and supporting evidence in a clear, audience-appropriate manner; facilitate feedback, navigate competing needs, and recommend practical decisions when requirements or perspectives conflict.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, dependencies, and design deliverables so work remains appropriately scoped, coordinated, and positioned to meet agreed product objectives.
  • Apply the Relias design system and established patterns consistently; recognize opportunities for reuse, identify gaps, and determine when a deviation is justified by user, product, or technical needs.
  • Integrate accessibility and inclusive design requirements throughout discovery, design, validation, documentation, and implementation rather than treating accessibility as a final review step.
  • Contribute reusable components, patterns, guidance, and documented decisions that improve consistency, maintainability, and quality across product experiences.
  • Contribute to design critiques, working sessions, and team learning by giving and incorporating specific, constructive feedback that improves design quality and decision-making.
  • Mentor less-experienced designers through coaching, examples, knowledge sharing, and support on complex design challenges without assuming formal people-management accountability.
  • Partner with UX Operations to improve UX methods, documentation, and team practices; use approved AI and AI-enabled tools, with appropriate human review and in accordance with company policies, to support research synthesis, concept exploration, documentation, and design iteration.

Qualifications

YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in user experience design, human-computer interaction, interaction design, graphic design, psychology, information science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of UX or product design experience designing complex digital products or workflows, including end-to-end ownership from discovery through implementation.
  • Portfolio demonstrating user-centered problem solving, research-informed design decisions, interaction and visual design capability, prototyping, and measurable or observable outcomes.
  • Experience partnering with product managers and engineers throughout the product-development lifecycle.
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma for interface design, component use, interactive prototyping, design documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to use and contribute to a design system, recognize existing patterns, reuse patterns intentionally, and determine when deviation is justified.
  • Working knowledge of user-centered design, interaction design, information architecture, visual design, responsive design, and usability principles.
  • Ability to design and evaluate experiences against accessibility requirements, including applicable WCAG standards.
  • Ability to communicate design rationale, facilitate critique, incorporate feedback, and influence decisions across Product Management, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance user needs, business objectives, technical constraints, delivery timelines, and design quality across multiple priorities.
  • Ability to define or contribute to success measures and use research findings, product analytics, and feedback to iterate on designs.
  • Ability to review implemented experiences with engineering partners and identify gaps between approved design intent and delivered functionality.
  • Ability to work effectively in Agile product-development environments and participate in discovery, refinement, planning, and delivery ceremonies.
  • Ability to coach or mentor other designers through feedback, critique, examples, and knowledge sharing.

IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU:

  • Experience designing complex B2B SaaS products or workflow-intensive enterprise applications.
  • Experience with healthcare, learning technology, compliance, or other regulated or accessibility-sensitive environments.
  • Experience contributing to or evolving a shared design system.
  • Experience with product analytics, experimentation, or UX measurement tools.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
