The posting

The role, at a glance:

The Senior Backend Engineer is a 3-month contract position that develops cloud services, APIs, and infrastructure for Biamp’s audiovisual conferencing solutions used worldwide. This role centers on identity and access control, including the permission model, APIs, and workflows that determine what users can do across the platform. The initial priority is to use SpiceDB to replace fixed, organization-wide roles with permission sets, groups, and grants that reflect customers’ organizational structures.

How you'll contribute:

  • Design, build, and maintain backend microservices and APIs (REST, GraphQL, and gRPC), primarily in Go
  • Design and implement fine-grained authorization (role-, resource-, and relationship-based) using SpiceDB
  • Plan and carry out zero-downtime, verifiably equivalent migrations of existing customer access to the new permission model
  • Build event-driven services using messaging systems such as NATS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ
  • Design and maintain SQL database schemas, queries, and data migrations
  • Troubleshoot and improve the reliability, security, and performance of production services
  • Work with the Web, Embedded Software, Product Verification (QA), and Product Management teams to deliver features and resolve issues
  • Participate in code reviews and document designs and processes in Confluence
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

A successful candidate should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Hands-on experience with AI agentic coding tools (such as Claude Code) as a core part of daily development, including directing agents through multi-step tasks, reviewing and validating AI-generated code, and building reusable skills and tool integrations (MCP)
  • 6+ years of commercial software development, including backend services and cloud infrastructure
  • Proficiency in Go (Golang) and experience building microservices
  • Experience designing and building APIs, with GraphQL preferred. Exposure to REST or gRPC is also valuable
  • Experience with SpiceDB, OpenFGA, or other Zanzibar-style permission systems
  • Experience designing relationship-based, hierarchical authorization models (ReBAC), including inherited and delegated access
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Experience working in Linux environments, including administration and shell scripting
  • Experience with agile development practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team

Some nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker
  • Experience with Zitadel, Auth0, or similar OIDC providers
  • Experience with SCIM provisioning and SSO identity providers (Okta, Microsoft Entra ID)
  • Experience with message systems such as NATS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ
  • Experience with Terraform for building and managing infrastructure
  • CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Bitbucket
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure

Tools & Collaboration

Bitbucket, Jenkins, Docker, Azure Kubernetes Services, Terraform, Jira, and Confluence.

Work Environment:

This is a 3-month, on-site contract position. Biamp does not have a remote or hybrid work policy for this role.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
