Marriott Long Island is seeking a hands-on Assistant Front Office Manager who leads by example, develops associates, and keeps a busy front desk running smoothly. This role supports the Front Office Manager in delivering an exceptional guest experience at our 619-room, full-service hotel, serving business travelers, airline crews, groups, and leisure guests.
What You’ll Do
- Lead daily front office operations, including arrivals, departures, room assignments, billing, and shift transitions.
- Maintain a visible presence in the lobby and at the front desk, supporting associates during peak periods.
- Coach front desk associates on service standards, accuracy, professionalism, and guest recovery.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly, follow through on commitments, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Coordinate airline crew and group arrivals, departures, and special requirements.
- Partner with Housekeeping and Engineering to manage room readiness, maintenance needs, and guest requests.
- Support scheduling, staffing coverage, onboarding, training, and associate accountability.
- Monitor Marriott guest feedback and help turn recurring concerns into measurable improvements.
- Ensure accurate cash handling, payment processing, billing, and operational records.
- Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned and support hotel safety and emergency procedures.
What You Bring
- At least two years of hotel front office experience, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
- Marriott experience strongly preferred; full-service hotel experience highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of hotel property management systems; familiarity with Marriott systems preferred.
- Strong judgment, organization, communication, and guest service skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities calmly in a high-volume environment.
- A hands-on leadership approach and willingness to coach, support, and hold associates accountable.
- Experience with airline crew business, group operations, or a union environment is a plus.
- Availability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
