We’re leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We’re proud of brands, like COLORBOND ® steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

Western Port Manufacturing facility is looking for 2 x Inventory Controllers in our Paint Line Operations team based in Hastings (Western Port), VIC. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products Portfolio, we have four major manufacturing sites at Western Port which operate 24 x 7 and deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to export and domestic customers.

As the Inventory Controller, you'll play a critical role in keeping our operations moving by coordinating inventory priorities across the Paint Lines and Customer Service Centre (CSC). Working closely with production, packing, despatch and supply chain teams, you'll ensure stock is visible, accurately controlled, and available to support customer commitments and operational performance.

This is a highly collaborative role where you'll act as the central coordination point for inventory flow, balancing production requirements, despatch priorities, and storage capacity while maintaining inventory accuracy and traceability. You'll help ensure coils and stock are in the right place at the right time, supporting production continuity, customer delivery, and operational efficiency.

This position works a rotating day and afternoon roster, covering Monday to Thursday 6:30am–11:30pm and Friday 6:30am–2:30pm.

What Will You Do?

Success in this role will see you:

  • coordinate and prioritise inventory movements across interdepartmental transfers to support production and despatch requirements
  • maintain visibility of stock availability, inventory status and storage capacity to optimise flow of material throughout the operation
  • set priorities and plan activities to meet despatch and customer requirements
  • ensure inventory accuracy and coil traceability through effective stock management, system transactions, audits and physical verification activities
  • coordinate the management of surplus, downgraded, returned and rectification stock to maximise inventory utilisation and operational efficiency
  • work collaboratively with cross functional departments to resolve inventory-related issues and minimise operational disruption
  • investigate inventory discrepancies and support the resolution of stock-related issues that impact production or customer delivery performance
  • support inventory investigations, ensuring appropriate containment and escalating issues
  • identify and implement opportunities to improve inventory visibility, stock flow, communication and operational effectiveness
  • obtain and maintain accreditations and competencies, providing hands-on support, and covering as flexible labour when required

More About You

You enjoy working in a fast-paced operational environment and are motivated by solving problems, coordinating priorities and helping teams achieve results. You're organised, proactive and able to build strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. You’ll also bring:

  • experience in inventory control, supply chain, warehousing, logistics or manufacturing operations
  • strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • experience using inventory/warehouse management systems
  • excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining inventory accuracy and traceability
  • strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across operational teams
  • sound problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
  • a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others

Experience in high-volume manufacturing, steel processing, logistics or warehouse operations will be highly regarded, as will current High Risk Work Licences (crane and forklift). Knowledge of inventory management platforms will also be advantageous.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
