Position Summary:

Bristol Myers Squibb is building an internal, Databricks-native data and AI organization for Commercial, Medical, and Market Access. The Head of Commercialization Data & AI Delivery will lead this transformation. This role owns a major platform migration effort. It also carries responsibility for building the team, standards, and delivery model needed to sustain the platform on Databricks after migration.

This is a builder-operator role with a clear path to broader leadership opportunities. The successful candidate will run the daily work of the transformation to Databricks. They will evolve the current external delivery model into a stronger internal capability. They will build stakeholder relationships and organizational credibility. Over time, this leads to expanded leadership of the Commercialization Data & AI function.

The Head of Commercialization Data & AI Delivery reports to the Executive Director, Commercialization Data & AI. This role will build and shape the Platform Engineering and AI/ML & Analytics functions for Commercialization. This includes hiring their senior technical leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set the operating model and standards for how Commercialization Data & AI delivers, with decisions that affect the function's ability to meet its commitments
  • Lead the transformation of Commercialization Data & AI toward a stronger internal delivery model
  • Manage a significant external delivery partnership through a structured evolution of scope
  • Build and hire senior technical leadership for Platform Engineering and AI/ML & Analytics
  • Lead a combined US and India-based engineering organization
  • Partner with Enterprise Data Platforms to hold delivery work to enterprise architecture and governance standards
  • Own the pace of the transformation, including hiring sequence, migration milestones, and vendor knowledge transfer
  • Engage directly with executive-level stakeholders across Commercial, Medical, and Market Access, including negotiation of vendor and delivery commitments
  • Set engineering standards for code review, testing, documentation, and data product delivery
  • Build the credibility and judgment needed for expanded leadership of the function

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform, or technology delivery, including at least 10+ years in a people leadership capacity managing engineering or technical organizations of significant size
  • Experience leading a data organization through a real technology or platform transition, not just steady-state operations
  • Direct experience managing an external systems integrator or managed-services relationship through a shift to internal delivery, ideally at multi-million-dollar scale
  • Working knowledge of modern cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or similar) strong enough to evaluate technical hires and hold teams to a standard
  • Experience building and leading distributed engineering teams, including offshore delivery centers
  • Experience in a regulated industry (pharma, life sciences, financial services, or healthcare) preferred
  • A track record of building structure, standards, and discipline in ambiguous environments
  • Strong executive presence and experience working directly with business leaders outside IT
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field required; advanced degree a plus

If you come across a role that intrigues you but doesn’t perfectly line up with your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway. You could be one step away from work that will transform your life and career.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
