The posting

About the team The e-commerce industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years and continues to be one of the most competitive sectors among leading internet companies. ByteDance E-commerce is building an innovative commerce ecosystem that connects consumers, merchants, creators, and brands through content and technology.

The Pre-owned Business Strategy team is focused on building the next generation of pre-owned commerce in the Philippines. Unlike traditional e-commerce, pre-owned commerce requires a different operating model — from defining product conditions and building trust with buyers, to authentication, seller enablement, fulfillment, pricing, and scalable marketplace operations.

The team works across Strategy, Product, Operations, Commercial, and external partners to build the foundations of a trusted and scalable pre-owned ecosystem.

About the role As a Pre-owned Business Strategy & Operations Manager, you will play a key role in building and scaling the pre-owned business from the ground up.

You will solve some of the most fundamental challenges in creating a trusted pre-owned marketplace — how products should be assessed and categorized, how authenticity and quality should be established, how sellers and partners should operate, and how the overall business model can scale efficiently.

You will work at the intersection of business strategy, marketplace operations, product, trust, partnerships, and commercial growth, turning ambiguous business problems into scalable operating models and practical solutions.

This is a highly entrepreneurial role for someone who enjoys building from 0 to 1, designing new processes, solving complex marketplace problems, and working across functions to turn ideas into reality.

Responsibilities - Build the Pre-owned Operating Model: Design and improve the end-to-end operating model for pre-owned commerce, covering seller onboarding, product listing, condition assessment, authentication, fulfillment, after-sales, and buyer experience. - Develop Product Condition & Grading Frameworks: Define clear and scalable product condition standards, grading methodologies, inspection criteria, and processes that create consistency across sellers, categories, and transactions. - Build Trust & Authentication Capabilities: Develop authentication, inspection, verification, and quality-control processes in partnership with internal teams and external specialists to increase buyer confidence and reduce transaction risks. - Lead Strategic Business Initiatives: Identify and lead high-impact initiatives that accelerate pre-owned business growth, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen the overall marketplace ecosystem — from problem definition through execution and measurement. - Design Scalable Processes & Incentives: Develop operating processes, seller policies, incentive mechanisms, and partner models that improve seller participation, product quality, transaction success, and customer experience. - Build Strategic Partnerships: Identify and develop partnerships with authentication providers, retailers, refurbishers, logistics providers, industry specialists, and other ecosystem players to strengthen the pre-owned value chain. - Partner with Product & Operations: Work closely with regional Product and Operations teams to translate business problems into product requirements, influence product roadmaps, launch new capabilities, and drive adoption. - Drive Data-led Business Decisions: Analyze marketplace performance, seller behavior, consumer trends, operational metrics, and transaction data to identify gaps and opportunities and develop actionable recommendations. - Shape Go-to-Market Strategy: Work with Commercial, Category, Marketing, Operations, and other teams to design and launch new programs, categories, seller models, and initiatives that accelerate adoption of pre-owned commerce. - Drive Cross-functional Execution: Align stakeholders across local and regional teams, establish clear milestones and success metrics, and ensure strategic initiatives move from concept to execution with measurable business impact.

Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or above, with 3+ years of experience in pre-owned/recommerce, marketplace operations, e-commerce, business strategy, consulting, or related industries. - Proven experience building or scaling business processes, operating models, or strategic initiatives from problem identification through implementation. - Strong understanding of marketplace dynamics and the challenges of buying and selling pre-owned products, including trust, product quality, seller behavior, authentication, pricing, fulfillment, and customer experience. - Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down ambiguous business challenges and develop practical, scalable solutions. - Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Product, Operations, Commercial, and external partners. - Strong ownership and execution ability, with a track record of driving projects independently in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience in secondhand marketplaces, classifieds, retail, e-commerce, consumer internet, or marketplace platforms. - Experience working on pre-owned product authentication, inspection, grading, quality control, seller operations, or marketplace trust and safety. - Experience building partnerships with authentication providers, retailers, refurbishers, logistics providers, industry associations, or other ecosystem partners. - Experience designing operating models, seller programs, incentive mechanisms, SOPs, or go-to-market strategies. - Experience working with Product teams to translate business requirements into product features, platform solutions, or new marketplace capabilities. - Strong commercial and business acumen, with the ability to balance customer trust, operational feasibility, seller economics, and business growth. - Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tools.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
