Job Description

Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM) is one of Carlisle Companies’ (CSL) core segments, providing commercial roofing systems. CCM’s growth is central to CSL’s Vision 2030 ambition of doubling EPS to $40 – a goal that depends on step-change innovation, expansion into new addressable markets and a more systemized, value-add approach to the portfolio.

The Senior Strategy Manager – Commercial Roofing Products will lead business, portfolio, and go-to-market strategy for Carlisle’s commercial roofing product categories, including roofing membranes, insulation, and accessories. The role will focus on market choice, product and portfolio priorities, competitive positioning, pricing and value capture, launch execution, and commercial performance within the commercial roofing business. It will translate customer, channel, contractor, and competitive insights into category-specific growth strategies and repeatable go-to-market plans, partnering closely with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, R&D, Operations, and Finance. This is a high-accountability, high-visibility role: the strategic direction of the organization runs through the work this leader owns.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Commercial Roofing Portfolio Go-To-Market Strategy

  • Own strategy for commercial roofing product categories, with primary emphasis on membranes, insulation, and accessories.
  • Assess market segments, product-line performance, customer needs, channel dynamics, competitive positions, and strategic risks to establish category priorities.
  • Develop fact-based recommendations using TAM/SAM sizing, pricing and mix analysis, financial modeling, customer insight, and competitive intelligence.
  • Partner with Product Management and business leaders to define portfolio roles, product rationalization priorities, innovation needs, and investment choices.
  • Support the Long-Range Plan by translating commercial roofing market opportunities into growth initiatives, financial assumptions, and resource requirements.

Business & Segment Strategy

  • Support the development of Business/Segment Strategy – market choice, portfolio priorities, and competitive positioning – that feeds CCM's Long-Range Plan and enterprise strategy, building a consistently-owned, repeatable process.
  • Conduct market, competitive, and customer analyses to identify growth opportunities, adjacencies, and strategic risks across segments.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop, challenge, and refine segment strategies, prioritizing where CCM competes and invests.
  • Build fact-based recommendations, leveraging TAM/SAM sizing, financial modeling, and market insights, that shape the Long-Range Plan and capital allocation decisions.
  • Build compelling business cases and executive-ready presentations that influence senior leadership decision-making.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Governance

  • Drive shared accountability across Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Product Management, integrating GTM milestones with Stage-Gate PDP governance and other operating models, owning the GTM metric framework and operating cadence that keeps execution on track.
  • Establish and manage program governance, performance metrics, and decision-making frameworks that give leadership visibility into progress and outcomes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through planning, readiness, and launch – coordinating training, tools, and communications to ensure strategies land successfully in market.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to functional leaders, building alignment and influence in a matrixed organization without direct authority.
  • Monitor performance against targets and recommend course corrections to improve business outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, engineering, materials science, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in strategy, product management, management consulting, or commercial/go-to-market roles.
  • Three years’ experience leading cross-functional product or go-to-market launches from concept through commercialization.
  • Three years’ experience conducting market, customer, channel, and competitive analysis to support growth, pricing, portfolio, or investment decisions.
  • Three years’ Experience with commercial roofing or adjacent construction materials, preferably involving membranes, insulation, accessories, or complete roofing systems.

Preferred

  • MBA or relevant advanced degree.
  • Experience commercializing B2B products through distribution and roofing contractors.
  • Experience with Stage-Gate/PDP product development, product lifecycle management, pricing, and new product commercialization.
  • Experience supporting long-range planning, product-line strategy, portfolio optimization, or adjacency assessment.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including market sizing, business-case development, and portfolio prioritization.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and align cross-functional and senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentation and recommendation development.
  • Strong program and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Ability to translate market, customer, technical, and competitive insight into actionable strategies and commercialization plans.
  • Experience establishing governance structures, KPI frameworks, and operating cadences that create accountability across functions.
  • Skilled in customer and channel discovery and in converting voice-of-customer insights into defined opportunities and value propositions.
  • High proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with CRM, market research, competitive intelligence, and BI tools such as Salesforce and Power BI.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential strategic, financial, technical, and competitive information.
  • Willingness to travel periodically to customer, distributor, architect, contractor, jobsite, plant, and company locations.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial roofing customers, channels, product economics, and competitive dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of segmentation, economic value propositions, value-based pricing, price/mix management, and Stage-Gate/PDP methodology.
  • Ability to translate contractor, distributor, owner, and consultant insight into product-level go-to-market plans and portfolio decisions.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily an indoor, climate-controlled office environment; hybrid schedule in accordance with the company’s flexible work arrangement policy
  • Extended periods of computer and video-conference work, including analysis, modeling, and presentation development
  • Frequent collaboration and meetings with cross-functional partners and senior leadership, at times across multiple time zones
  • Periodic travel (generally 20–30%) to customer, distributor, manufacturing, and company locations
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing plant and construction jobsite conditions during site visits, including noise, dust, uneven surfaces, and outdoor or extreme temperatures, requiring compliance with all site-specific personal protective equipment and safety requirements
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with shifting priorities and concurrent workstreams

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
