About ALC

At Automated Logic, we've been developing and supporting intelligent building solutions that have helped customers, including small businesses to Fortune 500 corporations, operate their buildings more efficiently for over 40 years. Our solutions help reduce energy consumption, lower utility, operating and maintenance costs, and improve indoor air quality, occupant comfort, and productivity. Technology that supports the buildings and industry of today and tomorrow requires a wide range of talents and skill sets.

About This Role

The Regional Specifying Sales Engineer is a strategic, customer-facing technical sales role responsible for expanding Automated Logic’s influence with consulting engineers, owners, developers, contractors, and key decision-makers early in the project lifecycle. This individual will help position Automated Logic as the basis of design by delivering consultative technical guidance, shaping specifications, supporting major project pursuits, and aligning building automation solutions with customer goals for energy performance, lifecycle value, operational efficiency, occupant comfort, and long-term maintainability. Success in this role requires a strong combination of building automation expertise, upstream relationship development, sales acumen, and the ability to clearly communicate the value of integrated ALC and Carrier solutions in complex stakeholder environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Influence Early-Stage Design: Engage consulting engineers, owners, developers, and contractors early in the project lifecycle to help shape specifications, position Automated Logic as the basis of design, and create competitive advantage before projects go to bid.
  • Support Major Project Pursuits: Partner with sales leadership and account teams to develop winning strategies for large, complex building automation opportunities across key regional markets and verticals.
  • Provide Consultative Technical Guidance: Translate owner, engineer, and contractor requirements into clear, practical BAS solutions that align with performance, energy, lifecycle, integration, and operational goals.
  • Deliver High-Impact Presentations: Conduct technical presentations, lunch-and-learns, product demonstrations, and training sessions that clearly communicate Automated Logic’s capabilities, differentiators, and value proposition.
  • Position Integrated ALC + Carrier Solutions: Identify opportunities to connect building automation, HVAC equipment, analytics, service, and lifecycle strategies into differentiated solutions that create measurable value for customers.
  • Build Strategic Relationships: Develop and maintain trusted relationships with consulting engineers, owners, developers, mechanical contractors, and internal stakeholders to expand influence, create opportunity, and improve market position.
  • Support Technical Proposals and RFP Responses: Assist with technical content, design narratives, system architecture, and value messaging for proposals, presentations, and responses to Requests for Proposals.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Service, and Product teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, competitive, technically aligned, and executable.
  • Monitor Market and Competitive Trends: Stay current on BAS technology, HVAC systems, energy standards, analytics, integration trends, and competitor positioning to strengthen Automated Logic’s market message.
  • Provide Customer and Market Feedback: Share engineer, owner, and market insights with sales leadership, product management, and internal teams to improve offerings, messaging, and pursuit strategy.

This position will also support regional sales initiatives, local customer and engineering training, technical marketing efforts, and major project development activities. The ideal candidate will become a trusted technical advisor to the specifying community and a strategic partner to the sales organization. Key measures of success include increased Automated Logic basis-of-design positioning, stronger upstream influence, improved specification quality, deeper relationships with consulting engineers and owners, and measurable contribution to regional pipeline growth and market share expansion.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience in building automation systems, HVAC controls, mechanical systems, or building technologies
  • 3+ years of experience supporting building automation design, engineering, specifications, technical sales, or consulting engineering engagement.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally up to 75%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical solutions to engineers, owners, contractors, and internal sales teams.
  • Experience developing or supporting technical proposals, design narratives, specifications, or RFP responses.
  • Experience developing, engineering, specifying, selling, or supporting building automation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, BAS architecture, controls platforms, system integration, IT networking, analytics, and maintainability considerations.
  • Experience engaging consulting engineers, owners, developers, and contractors early in the project lifecycle to influence design and specifications.
  • Ability to position integrated solutions that combine controls, HVAC equipment, analytics, service, and lifecycle value in a consultative environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and executive-level influence skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand market trends, competitive positioning, and regional growth strategies.
  • CEM, LEED AP, WELL AP, PE certification, or other relevant industry credentials are a plus.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
