Your Role

We are looking for an experienced Global Head of Software Engineering to lead and scale our international engineering organisation during the next phase of CellPoint Digital’s growth. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will be responsible for defining and evolving the engineering operating model, building high-performing leadership teams, and ensuring our engineering organisation can scale effectively as our business, customers and platform continue to grow globally.

This role goes beyond delivery leadership. We are looking for a leader who can develop Engineering Managers, improve organisational effectiveness, drive engineering transformation and create an environment where teams consistently deliver high-quality software at scale. You will play a critical role in shaping engineering culture, strategy and execution across a globally distributed organisation.

Your Team

This role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and leads a global software engineering organisation spanning Europe, North America and India.

You will manage senior engineering leaders, including the Head of Development, while working closely with Product, Architecture, TechOps, Security and Commercial teams to align engineering execution with business objectives.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will help shape technology strategy, organisational design and the future direction of CellPoint Digital’s engineering function.

Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Organisational Growth

  • Lead, mentor and develop Engineering Managers and senior engineering leaders across a globally distributed organisation
  • Build scalable leadership structures that support company growth and organisational effectiveness
  • Drive succession planning, talent development and leadership capability across engineering teams
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement

Engineering Strategy & Transformation

  • Define and evolve the engineering operating model across planning, delivery, quality, support and operational excellence
  • Lead organisational transformation initiatives that improve engineering productivity, efficiency and scalability
  • Establish and continuously improve engineering standards, processes and ways of working
  • Drive platform modernisation and technology evolution initiatives

Delivery & Operational Excellence

  • Own engineering delivery performance, predictability and execution across multiple teams and regions
  • Establish meaningful engineering metrics and KPIs that drive quality, reliability and delivery outcomes
  • Improve engineering effectiveness through better planning, governance and cross-functional alignment
  • Ensure engineering teams deliver secure, resilient and scalable solutions that meet customer and business needs

Executive & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with the CTO, Product, Architecture and Commercial leaders to align engineering priorities with company strategy
  • Contribute to technology strategy, organisational planning and long-term business growth
  • Support major customer engagements and strategic initiatives where executive-level technical leadership is required
  • Influence decision-making at both leadership and board-level discussions where appropriate

Innovation & Future Readiness

  • Evaluate and drive adoption of modern engineering practices, tooling and automation
  • Champion initiatives that improve developer productivity and engineering efficiency
  • Explore opportunities to leverage AI-enabled engineering practices and emerging technologies where they provide measurable value

Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering and technology organisations
  • 5+ years leading Engineering Managers and senior engineering leaders
  • Proven experience building, scaling and transforming engineering organisations
  • Demonstrated success leading globally distributed engineering teams
  • Strong experience defining engineering operating models, governance structures and delivery frameworks
  • Experience improving engineering productivity, delivery performance, quality and organisational effectiveness
  • Proven ability to manage organisational growth, change and transformation initiatives
  • Strong executive presence with experience partnering with CTOs, founders, executives and senior stakeholders
  • Experience aligning engineering strategy with commercial and business objectives
  • Strong technical credibility across software architecture, engineering practices and cloud-native technologies
  • Experience operating within SaaS, fintech, payments or other high-growth technology environments

Qualifications

  • Significant engineering leadership experience within complex technology organisations
  • Proven experience managing Engineering Managers and senior engineering leaders
  • Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering organisations
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems and modern engineering practices
  • Experience driving engineering transformation and organisational change
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance strategic and operational priorities
  • Experience leading global engineering teams across multiple locations and time zones
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills

Desirable

  • Experience within payments, fintech, payment orchestration or transaction processing platforms
  • Experience managing engineering organisations of 50+ engineers
  • Experience leading large-scale platform modernisation or organisational transformation programmes
  • Experience implementing AI-enabled engineering practices and developer productivity initiatives
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native architectures
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and large-scale data platforms
  • Experience working within high-availability, mission-critical SaaS environments
