Position Summary:
The Dining Material Handler primarily receives, stores, delivers, cools, freezes, thaws, and maintains the quality, quantity, and appearance of food for Braiden Dining Center and support locations. The position pulls goods from stock, stages goods for delivery, unloads and loads delivery vehicles, and completes deliveries. Additional responsibilities include receiving and verifying shipments, assisting with inventory cycle counts, verifying invoices, using a computer and food service software, and handling paperwork.

Essential Job Duties:
- Receive, store, deliver, refrigerate, freeze, thaw, rotate, and maintain the quality, quantity, and appearance of foods and supplies in accordance with safety, sanitation, and operational guidelines.
- Pull food and materials from stock, stage items for delivery, verify the accuracy of items pulled, load trucks to maximize delivery-route efficiency, and deliver items to dining centers.
- Receive and verify shipments, confirm vendor invoice accuracy, communicate shortages or excesses, apply HACCP practices, and safely operate specialized equipment, including a refrigerated truck, forklift, and pallet jack.
- Clean and sanitize production and service areas, machinery and equipment, dishes and utensils, food storage areas, and workspaces in accordance with sanitation guidelines and schedules.
- Assist with inventory cycle counts, inventory management systems, customer support, and problem resolution, and professionally address customer concerns.
- Attend assigned meetings and training sessions, communicate with unit management on inventory and product receipt, train hourly employees, and perform other duties as assigned.

- Special Requirements/Other: Per CSU HDS food safety training policy, the incumbent must successfully pass the ServSafe certification exam within 6 months of hire date.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Years of Experience and/or Skills:
- One year of experience, including warehousing, handling, shipping, receiving, storing, inventory, and/or distribution of goods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ordering and inventory experience in a food service operation.
- Work experience storing and rotating food inventory using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
- Work experience in a high-volume meal prep (500+ meals/day) food production operation.
- Knowledge of Food Safety as it relates to food storage.
- Food Safety Certification (i.e. ServSafe, HACCP).
- Experience delivering exceptional customer service to internal and external customers while adhering to employer and department policies.
