About this opportunity
Cenovus’s New Grad Program aims to attract, develop and retain exceptional new grads to build a top talent pipeline for the company. The program provides new grads with a broad understanding of Cenovus’s core business through challenging work assignments, training and development, field exposure and the opportunity to develop a large network of contacts through networking and mentorship opportunities.
Our Program consists of three consecutive 12-month rotational assignments that span Cenovus’s varied business areas. Upon completion of the three-year program, you will be matched to a permanent role within the organization. This role will be based on business need and relocation may be required.
As a Power Engineer at Cenovus, your 3 rotations will consist of:
- Lloydminster Thermal Operations
- Lloydminster Heavy Oil Upgrader
Work Environment in Lloydminster:
- Lloydminster Thermal schedule: 7 days on 7 days off, a 12-hour shift rotating between days/nights including working weekends/stat holidays
- Lloydminster Upgrader schedule: varies rotational shift
- Successful candidate will need to live in the surrounding area or be willing to relocate to Lloydminster

What you’ll do
Responsibilities may include:
- Operate the Facility in a safe and effective manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team
- Maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance
- Perform condition monitoring including sampling and testing per area responsibilities. Complete area operations records. (e.g., volume balances, log sheets, work permits and required reports)
- Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy. Support on-site maintenance contractors by communicating Company’s requirements, policies, and procedures, while leading by example
- Comply with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this Position's responsibilities
Who you are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Available to begin work June 2027
- Must have a diploma in Power Engineering program obtained by May 31, 2027, and completed within the last 2 years (2025, 2026 or 2027)
- Minimum 3rd class power engineering certificate or successful completion of 3rd class engineering provincial exams with the expectation to acquire 3rd class ticket within 6 months of graduation
- During the three-year program you will be expected and must be willing to relocate to any of Cenovus’s operating sites for your rotations and/or your end-of-program placement. Note that your initial location will be considered your “home location” and will likely be where you will be based upon program completion
