The posting

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Newsletter and Book Ad and Promo Specialist is responsible for curating, organizing and producing CRS’ digital newsletters. They must have a flair for writing subject lines and compelling copy on short lead times, editing and curation skills, must know or be able to quickly learn HubSpot and other marketing CRM software, have some design and branding sensibility and be able to use and communicate analytics.

The Newsletter and Book Ad and Promo Specialist develops a deep knowledge of CRS’ brand and imprints and their catalogs of front- and backlist titles and upcoming pipeline. They are responsible for helping CRS to achieve its monthly, quarterly and annual retail book sales targets through digital PPC marketing on social media and Google and through reseller relations, managing advertising and campaign portals for a variety of resellers, including Amazon Vendor Central, Follett, Ingram and Barnes and Nobles. This position will be responsible for social media and in person advertising for books and retail products, new book promotion and author promotion.

This position will also hold buyer and advertising conversations aimed at increasing resellers’ purchase of our retail products. This position is responsible for maintaining a catalog for each major reseller and for maintaining and orderly, easy to manage vendor files.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Newsletter Planning, Curation and Execution

  • Produce, manage and grow our portfolio of newsletters, on a weekly, bi-monthly and monthly basis.
  • Write compelling, accurate summaries and teasers about our retail products.
  • Motivate and inspire colleagues and contributors to contribute to the newsletter’s blog or library or as appropriate.
  • Synthesize blogs for brevity and flair in order to engage them and drive website traffic.
  • Must be able to guide blog and content writers for SEO and review and edit
  • Provide readers with links and calls to actions in each newsletter.
  • Track and report newsletter performance metrics.
  • Help manage day-to-day newsletter operations.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to continuously improve on the newsletter’s user experiences from signup to inbox, engagement and promotion as part of a growth effort.

Amazon Vendor Central and Reseller Relation and Advertising

  • Manages and optimizes paid ad campaign, such as Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Display in Amazon Vendor Central. Build, launch, and scale pay-per-click (PPC) ad campaigns for our catalog of products.
  • Collaborates with supervisor to manage the day-to-day vendor portal activities to maximize channel sales for front list, back list and re-orders.
  • Monitor campaign performance and make recommendations to improve visibility, traffic, sales, and ROAS.
  • Support campaign launches, restructures, testing, and optimization as required
  • Optimize product listings, including titles, bullet points, descriptions, images, and A+ Content.
  • Identify and resolve listing issues, suppressed products, and content gaps.
  • Improve product page performance to increase conversion and customer engagement.
  • Support Amazon Storefront enhancements and branded content initiatives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on promotions, seasonal campaigns, new product launches, and content updates.
  • Execute on marketing plan with other major resellers and manage relations with local bookstore and university resellers.

Social Media, Email, Website, and Google Advertising and Promotion

  • Work closely with website administrator and publishing team to ensure the website content is accurate and engaging.
  • Work closely with supervisor to plan and execute email campaign for book and retail product promotions and with others on cross-channel promotions
  • Work closely with supervisor, publishing and website administrator to plan, execute and monitor Google Ads and manage Google Merchant account.
  • Manages social media platforms for books and retail products.
  • Writes compelling captions, and works closely with other to produce a wide-variety of interesting, effective and engaging social media assets.
  • Maintain a content calendar to ensure timely posts across multiple social media channels
  • Collaborates to monitor comments and direct messages, reply to users, and build positive brand engagement.
  • Keeps up with social media trends, viral sounds, hashtags, and helps to create assets and contents that makes our books relevant to the trending topics.
  • Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) like engagement, reach, and follower growth to see what content works best.

Collaboration for New Book Launch and Author Promotions

  • Work closely with supervisor, marketing and editorial teams and author as needed to plan book launch and author promotions.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to plan integrated marketing and sales campaign
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Draft and distribute press releases and other external communications.
  • Support event, promotional, and brand marketing initiatives.
  • Assist with various marketing projects and administrative tasks to support overall marketing objectives.
  • Occasional to rare weekend or off-hours to respond to marketing projects.
  • Participates in regular face-to-face planned and impromptu planning meetings.
  • Basic understanding (or willingness to learn expeditiously) of standard business operations and processes.
  • Proactively addresses challenges, seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Communications, Writing/Journalism, Marketing or related fields.
  • 1+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to quickly develop proficiency in Amazon Vendor Central and other reseller portals to develop ad campaigns or promote products.
  • Knowledge of and ability to quickly develop proficiency in managing list in HubSpot and Meta.
  • Ability to work on a team, within a singular department or cross-departmentally; adapts quickly to changing work demands, requirements or processes.
  • Experience with social media scheduling or quickly able to demonstrate proficiency in doing so.
  • Experience with digital marketing and Pay-Per-Click (PPC) fundamentals or quickly able to learn and demonstrate proficiency.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational, time management, attention to detail and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including effective writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Proficient in productivity software (i.e., Microsoft Office, G-Suite)
  • Takes initiative and welcomes supervision; readily receives and applies feedback.
  • Regular, reliable and punctual attendance.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain seated to use a computer or talk on phone for up to 8 hours/day with breaks and lunch.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry up to up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasional to rare travel may be required.
