Job Description:

Overview:

We don’t simply hire employees. We invest in them. When you work at Chatham, we empower you — offering professional development opportunities to help you grow in your career, no matter if you've been here for five months or 15 years. Chatham has worked hard to create a distinct work environment that values people, teamwork, integrity, and client service. You will have immediate opportunities to partner with talented subject matter experts, work on complex projects, and contribute to the value Chatham delivers every day.

Summary:

Chatham's Global Real Estate (GRE) sector is a market leader in financial risk management and capital optimization strategies for institutional real estate owners and developers. Our independent advisory approach is supported by technology that helps clients evaluate financial trade-offs and execute strategies at both the individual asset and portfolio levels.

As a Transaction Operations Specialist within our Global Real Estate hedging advisory team, you will play an important role in supporting interest rate and foreign currency hedging transactions. You will coordinate pre- and post-trade documentation, process transactions within Chatham's proprietary systems, and collaborate with clients, dealer banks, and internal subject matter experts to support accurate and timely execution. This role offers opportunities to develop expertise in derivatives operations, documentation, and regulatory processes while contributing to improvements that strengthen the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of our hedging operations.

In this role you will:

  • Coordinate trade documentation with clients and dealer banks throughout the transaction lifecycle, from pre-trade discussions through execution and completion.
  • Process transaction details and maintain accurate documentation within Chatham's proprietary transaction management systems.
  • Support ISDA documentation processes by coordinating with internal ISDA specialists, attorneys, and counterparty banks.
  • Review and verify the economic terms of transactions before and after execution to ensure accurate trade entry and documentation.
  • Assist clients with transaction settlements by coordinating and confirming appropriate funds flow.
  • Track and report on transaction operations activities, including outstanding documentation, transaction pipelines, upcoming deadlines, and relevant transaction trends.
  • Communicate proactively with clients and internal stakeholders regarding documentation requirements, outstanding items, and transaction timelines.
  • Partner with centralized documentation and transaction management teams to coordinate compliance requirements, including Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and related processes.
  • Review loan documentation and identify key economic information relevant to hedge structuring and transaction execution.
  • Develop an understanding of derivatives regulations and their operational implications, applying that knowledge to transaction processes and documentation requirements.
  • Share knowledge and support training for colleagues on relevant documentation, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve trade operations processes, strengthen accuracy, and increase efficiency across recurring workflows.

Your impact:

  • Support the successful execution of interest rate and foreign currency hedging transactions by ensuring accurate, timely, and well-coordinated operational processes.
  • Contribute to a positive client experience by maintaining clear communication, anticipating documentation needs, and helping resolve operational questions throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Partner with Global Real Estate advisors, ISDA specialists, attorneys, centralized documentation teams, and counterparty banks to coordinate transaction requirements and support effective execution.
  • Strengthen the accuracy and consistency of trade information, documentation, and settlement processes to help reduce operational risk.
  • Help improve the efficiency and scalability of Chatham's hedging operations by identifying opportunities to standardize workflows and enhance existing processes.
  • Develop specialized knowledge of trade operations, derivatives documentation, and regulatory requirements that supports the broader team's ability to serve clients effectively.
  • Contribute to team effectiveness by sharing operational expertise, supporting colleagues, and helping establish consistent documentation and transaction management practices.

Contributors to your success:

  • Experience in document management, trade operations, operational coordination, or process improvement is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated commitment to accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, adjust priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, transaction-focused environment.
  • Proactive approach to identifying needs, resolving issues, and maintaining progress across operational workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to coordinate effectively with clients, internal stakeholders, and external counterparties.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and improve processes that support consistent and efficient operational execution.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with numerical information and transaction-related financial data.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and work effectively with subject matter experts on documentation, compliance, and transaction-related matters.
  • Interest in developing expertise in derivatives documentation, trade operations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in banking operations, financial services, legal documentation, or a paralegal role is beneficial but not required.
  • A degree in finance is not required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional work experience is preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
