Maintenance Mechanic

Chemours is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our growing Maintenance team at the Chemours Discovery Hub in Newark, DE. The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Mechanic is to support the site's mechanical maintenance and reliability needs through the installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of laboratory and pilot-scale process equipment in a safe, timely, and craftsman-like manner. This position will report to the Engineering, Maintenance & Quality Manager.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete open work orders and perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with OEM recommendations and site reliability standards.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, install, and maintain laboratory and pilot-scale process equipment.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of mechanical systems and process equipment, including pumps, mechanical seals, compressors, vacuum systems, motors, gearboxes, valves, piping systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, fans, blowers, filters, utility systems, agitators, and mixers.
  • Repair and replace bearings, couplings, belts, chains, and other mechanical components.
  • Conduct alignment, lubrication, and basic vibration-related maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability.
  • Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair equipment and components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, machine shop equipment, and other maintenance tools.
  • Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and metal repair activities to support equipment maintenance, reliability improvements, and facility projects.
  • Utilize machine shop equipment, such as drill presses, band saws, lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to manufacture, modify, or repair equipment components and replacement parts.
  • Fabricate and install supports, brackets, guards, platforms, piping modifications, and other mechanical components as required to support operations and maintenance activities.
  • Read and interpret equipment drawings, blueprints, schematics, fabrication drawings, and OEM manuals to diagnose equipment issues and execute repairs.
  • Assist with equipment installations, process modifications, and capital project activities.
  • Perform equipment inspections and identify opportunities for reliability improvements.
  • Respond to routine and emergency maintenance requests in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, operators, electricians, and contractors to safely execute maintenance and improvement activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and document completed work within the site's maintenance management system.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5-7+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, or processing environment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment specifications, maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Experience using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and maintenance diagnostic equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and email.
  • Willing and able to wear required personal protective equipment, including a supplied-air full-face respirator with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, and platforms.
  • Frequently lifts or moves up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, specialty chemical, or manufacturing environment.
  • Associate degree, technical certificate, or formal apprenticeship in Mechanical Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, Millwright, or a related field.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems.
  • Welding, machining, fabrication, or millwright experience.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting experience, including motor replacement and troubleshooting of industrial electrical equipment.
  • Experience supporting laboratory, pilot plant, or research and development facilities.

Pay Range (in local currency):

$85,801.00 - $134,064.00

Annual Bonus Target:
