Are you an engineer or technician ready to take the next step into project management?
Do you enjoy solving problems, working across different teams and seeing projects through from concept to completion?
Would you like the opportunity to help shape the future of a busy manufacturing site?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Project Manager – Engineering & Facilities to join our Engineering Projects & Facilities team on a 1-year fixed-term contract (or potentially a secondment for internal candidates).
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You’ll support and progressively lead a diverse range of engineering, facilities and capital investment projects, taking on greater ownership as your knowledge and capability develop. From identifying site requirements and preparing capital expenditure requests through to coordinating stakeholders and delivering projects, you’ll have the opportunity to make a visible impact across the business.
This could be a great next step for an engineer or technician looking to move from a hands-on position into project management, or an engineering/project management graduate who has developed strong practical technical experience.
This role is based in our Folkestone Manufacturing Plant 5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
· Supporting the delivery of capital investment projects across our UK locations and, occasionally, European sites.
· Progressively managing projects from initial concept through to successful completion.
· Working closely with stakeholders across the business to understand site needs and coordinate project activity.
· Monitoring project expenditure and ensuring delivery remains within approved budgets.
· Preparing and submitting Capital Expenditure Requests through the Corporate Engineering approval process.
· Organising and chairing cross-functional project meetings.
· Supporting troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis.
· Maintaining and updating site documentation, drawings and CAD records.
· Managing contractors on site, including reviewing RAMS and issuing permits to work.
· Working closely with Health, Safety & Environment colleagues throughout the project lifecycle.
Education & Experience:
· Experience or practical exposure to engineering, manufacturing or project environments.
· A degree in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, or relevant technical experience.
· Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach.
· Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and ideally Microsoft Project.
· An eye for detail and pride in delivering high-quality work.
· The ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm when challenges arise.
· A genuine interest in engineering and a desire to learn and develop.
Experience using AutoCAD would be beneficial but isn’t essential, as training can be provided. Business studies experience would also be advantageous.
We’re looking for someone who combines technical curiosity with strong organisation and people skills. You’ll be proactive, pragmatic and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change.
You’ll enjoy solving problems, taking ownership and continuously developing your knowledge. Strong communication skills are important, as you’ll work with colleagues at different levels across the business and need to communicate project information clearly and confidently.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to broaden your engineering experience, develop your project management capability and play a part in delivering improvements that shape the future of our sites, we’d love to hear from you.
This role works Monday – Friday, 37-hours per week. Flexibility around start and finish times will be required due to the nature of the role.
In return we offer a competitive package, including a bonus, 24 days annual leave, a pension matched up to 9%, life assurance cover and membership of a health cash plan.
