EU Affairs Manager

Location: Brussels

Reports to: EU Affairs Director

Employment: Full-time, one-year position, with potential extension depending on funding

Who We Are

Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is a global nonprofit organisation working to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change by catalysing the rapid development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies. With 30 years of internationally recognized expertise on climate policy and a fierce commitment to exploring all potential solutions, CATF is a pragmatic, non-ideological advocacy group with the bold ideas needed to address climate change. CATF has offices in Boston, Washington D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world.

What You’ll Do

Program Context

CATF’s EU Affairs team advances advocacy strategies that support the organisation’s climate and energy goals in Europe. Working across CATF programs, the team connects technical and policy expertise with policymakers and external partners. As EU Affairs Manager, you’ll collaborate with program, communications, and advocacy colleagues on a broad range of European policy issues. Your role will help translate CATF’s expertise into coordinated advocacy, stronger relationships, and support for effective climate and energy policies.

Responsibilities

  • Advocacy Strategy & Implementation – Together with the EU Director and team, develop and implement advocacy strategies directed toward EU institutions and Member States to advance CATF’s regional goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building – Build and strengthen working relationships with EU institutions, lawmakers, policymakers, and stakeholder networks to support CATF’s advocacy efforts.
  • Policy Communications – Draft policy briefings, open letters, fact sheets, and other advocacy materials. Contribute a policy and advocacy perspective to press statements, blogs, and other public-facing content.
  • Cross-Program Collaboration & Strategic Alignment – Connect CATF programs active in Europe, promote coherent advocacy, and support strategy development for 2027.
  • Policy Monitoring & Political Insight – Track relevant EU legislative and policy initiatives, anticipate political developments affecting CATF priorities, and connect technical experts and consultants with policymakers to support strong climate and energy policies.
  • Policy Research & Analysis – Conduct targeted research and analysis of relevant EU policies to inform CATF’s advocacy work.
  • Fundraising & Donor Support – Support fundraising activities and donor efforts as needed.

What You’ll Bring

You bring experience in EU affairs and an interest in advancing climate and energy policy. You can organise competing priorities, work independently, and collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and cultures. Clear writing and strong interpersonal skills will help you connect policy expertise with advocacy opportunities.

Required Experience

  • A university degree in EU studies or a similar field.
  • At least three years of experience in EU affairs.
  • Experience with, and interest in, EU energy and climate policies.
  • English proficiency and excellent writing skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary and intercultural team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Interest in CATF’s mission.

Preferred Experience

  • Additional European language skills.

What We Provide

This opportunity brings together EU policy, cross-program collaboration, and advocacy to support climate and energy solutions.

  • A mission-driven role contributing to CATF’s European climate and energy advocacy.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with program experts, communications and advocacy colleagues, external partners, and policymakers.
  • A full-time, one-year position based in Brussels, with potential extension depending on funding.

Compensation & Pay Transparency

The expected base salary range for this position is:

  • Belgium: €90,661–€108,793 per year

Actual compensation will be determined using relevant, job-related factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, role scope, internal equity, and country of employment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
