The posting

Who We Are

Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is a global nonprofit organization working to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change by catalyzing the rapid development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies. With 30 years of internationally recognized expertise on climate policy and a fierce commitment to exploring all potential solutions, CATF is a pragmatic, non-ideological advocacy group with the bold ideas needed to address climate change. CATF has offices in Boston, Washington, D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world.

What You’ll Do

Program Context

CATF’s EU Affairs team advances advocacy strategies that support the organization’s climate and energy goals in Europe. Working across CATF programs, the team connects technical and policy expertise with policymakers and external partners.

As EU Policy and Project Associate, you’ll collaborate with program, communications, and advocacy colleagues across a broad range of European policy issues. You’ll help the team stay ahead of EU policy developments, coordinate engagement with policymakers and other stakeholders, and support projects and events that strengthen CATF’s work in Europe.

This is a junior position with opportunities to take on greater responsibility as you grow within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Policy Monitoring & Analysis – Monitor and analyze relevant EU legislative and policy initiatives, provide timely insights to the team, and contribute to policy-related newsletters and other written updates.
  • Advocacy Strategy & Implementation – Work with the EU Affairs team to support and implement advocacy strategies directed toward EU institutions and Member States.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Coordinate outreach and meetings with policymakers and support CATF’s engagement with EU institutions, including representing CATF at relevant events and stakeholder forums.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work across CATF programs and with communications and advocacy colleagues to connect technical and policy expertise with coordinated European advocacy.
  • Project Management & Coordination – Support the planning, execution, and tracking of projects and deliverables, helping maintain coordination and information flow across teams.
  • Event & Conference Coordination – Support the planning and delivery of events and conferences in coordination with the EU Events Manager, including developing concept notes, inviting speakers and participants, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners.

What You’ll Bring

You bring a working understanding of EU institutions and policymaking, along with strong writing, communication, and organizational skills. You can work independently while also contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary and intercultural team, and you’re interested in applying your experience to climate and energy policy.

Required Experience

  • University degree in EU studies or a similar field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in EU affairs.
  • Knowledge of the European Union, including its institutions, processes, and policies, with familiarity with advocacy.
  • English proficiency with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary and intercultural team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Interest in CATF’s mission.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with and interest in European energy and climate policy.
  • Additional European language skills.

What We Provide

This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to CATF’s climate and energy policy work in Europe while developing experience across policy, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and events.

You’ll work with colleagues across CATF’s programs, communications, and advocacy teams and engage with EU institutions, policymakers, and external partners. As a junior member of the EU Affairs team, you’ll have opportunities to grow your responsibilities as you develop in the role.

Compensation and Pay Transparency

CATF believes candidates should have clear information about compensation so they can make informed decisions about opportunities with us. Because our team works across multiple countries, compensation is structured using CATF’s established salary ranges for the role and country of employment.

For candidates employed in Belgium, the expected starting base salary for this position is:

Belgium: €80,473 per year

Actual compensation will be determined using relevant, job-related factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, role scope, internal equity, and country of employment.

Benefits and other terms of employment will be based on the applicable country of employment and employing arrangement.

CATF does not consider an applicant’s salary history when determining compensation.

Ready to Apply?

If you’ve made it this far, you should go ahead and apply.

You don’t need to meet every requirement to be a strong candidate. If this role aligns with how you like to work and the kind of impact you want to have, we encourage you to submit your application.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
