Associate Pastor: Ministry Profile

Faith Community Church is seeking a full-time, licensed Associate Pastor to provide strategic leadership and oversight for our youth (6th–12th grade) and children's (1st–5th grade) Ministries. We are a caring, intergenerational congregation averaging 175 in weekly attendance, and committed to making disciples in southwest Iowa. We are proudly affiliated with The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA). The Associate Pastor will be responsible for creating a vibrant, engaging, and biblically centered environment where young people and children can grow in their faith, connect with peers, and be equipped to serve Christ.

Primary Ministry Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight & Direction: Implement and oversee all programming for children and youth, ensuring alignment with the church's vision, mission, and C&MA distinctives.
  • Volunteer Development: Recruit, train, schedule, and empower a diverse team of adult volunteers to serve effectively in all areas of the ministry. Create a strong culture of volunteer appreciation and accountability.
  • Teaching and Discipling: Provide engaging, age-appropriate biblical teaching and actively participate in the discipleship process of students and children.
  • Family Partnership: Act as a resource to parents, working to equip and partner with families in the spiritual development of their children and youth.
  • Budget & Administration: Manage the ministry budget, ensure compliance with all safety policies, and oversee necessary administrative tasks.
  • Pastoral Team Member: Function as an integral part of the pastoral team, participating in staff meetings, assisting with overall church ministry needs (as capacity allows), and performing general pastoral duties as requested.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Affiliation

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in a ministry-related field is preferred; an advanced degree is not required.
  • C&MA Licensing: Preferred to be licensed with The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA).
  • Ordination: Preferred to be either ordained or actively in the process of ordination with The C&MA.

Experience and Skills

  • Ministry Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of ministry experience in youth, children, or family ministry.
  • Organizational and Administrative Skills: Proven ability to organize programs, manage logistics, and maintain an orderly ministry structure.
  • Leadership and Recruiting: Demonstrated success in recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers. Must be able to inspire and lead teams.
  • Interpersonal Ability: Highly personable with a demonstrated ability to connect quickly and build trust with children, youth, parents, volunteers, and the wider congregation.
  • Professional Conduct: Proven dependability and a professional demeanor.
  • Teamwork: A strong collaborator who contributes positively to the staff culture and works effectively under the leadership of the Lead Pastor.
  • Growth Mindset: Teachable and committed to personal and professional development.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
