Your Role

As a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, you'll lead Diesel Technician A (Master Technician)s, Diesel Technician B (Advanced Technician)s, Diesel Technician C (Entry-Level Technician)s, and other maintenance team members while overseeing the daily execution of shop operations. You'll be responsible for developing your people, maximizing equipment uptime, ensuring quality repairs, promoting workplace safety, and partnering with Operations to support the company's daily service commitments.

  • Build a culture centered on safety, accountability, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct daily shop meetings and safety huddles to communicate priorities, recognize employee performance, and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, and monitor daily maintenance activities to maximize shop productivity and equipment availability.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed on time to minimize breakdowns and extend equipment life.
  • Monitor repair quality and verify repairs meet company standards, DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Assist technicians with advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and complex repairs while continuing to develop their technical knowledge.
  • Coach employees through regular feedback, recognition, performance conversations, corrective action, and ongoing development.
  • Identify and develop future Fleet leaders through mentoring, training, and career development opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Operations leadership to prioritize repairs based on operational needs and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and respond quickly to operational needs.
  • Ensure repair orders, preventive maintenance records, warranty documentation, inventory transactions, and shop records are completed accurately.
  • Maintain accountability for shop cleanliness, organization, tools, equipment, and overall work environment.
  • Partner with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments to support efficient maintenance operations.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and retaining high-performing maintenance employees.
  • At Coastal, we win as a team. Fleet Maintenance Supervisors develop people, support fellow leaders, partner with Operations, and do whatever is necessary to keep our trucks and equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.

What You'll Bring

  • Five (5) or more years of heavy-duty diesel maintenance experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, heavy equipment, preventive maintenance programs, DOT regulations, and OSHA requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and lead technical employees.
  • Strong communication, organizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • ASE certifications, Class A CDL, waste industry experience, fleet maintenance software experience, and bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) skills are a plus.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
