  • Troubleshoot steam heating problems, including water hammer, uneven heating, venting deficiencies, and condensate return issues.
  • Diagnose hydronic heating problems involving circulation, air elimination, expansion tanks, zoning, and system pressure.

  • Work with a variety of traditional and modern boiler technologies.
  • Ensure installations meet manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and established quality standards.

Additional Mechanical Work

While steam and hot water heating will be the primary focus, there may be opportunities to assist with related plumbing and mechanical work, depending on experience, interests, and seasonal demand.

Experience with forced-air heating systems is also welcome, although it is not a requirement for this position..

  • Works collaboratively. You appreciate having experienced plumbing and electrical professionals available when a problem crosses trade boundaries.

Why Specialize in Steam & Hydronic Heating?

Steam and hydronic heating are specialized trades that require experience, patience, and a genuine understanding of mechanical systems.

Many older heating systems remain in service throughout Baltimore and its surrounding communities. Maintaining these systems properly requires professionals who understand how they were designed, how they operate, and how to improve their performance.

At the same time, modern high-efficiency boilers and sophisticated heating controls offer new opportunities for technicians who want to expand their expertise.

This position brings these worlds together.

You'll work on everything from traditional residential steam systems to modern hydronic installations and light commercial heating equipment.

You'll also have the professional support, resources, and opportunities needed to build a lasting career.

We're not simply looking for someone who can fix a boiler. We're looking for someone who wants to be recognized as an expert in heating
