Job Description

Location:

London, GB

Condé Nast is a global media company, home to iconic brands including Vogue, GQ, Glamour, CN Traveller, Vanity Fair, Wired, The World of Interiors, House & Garden and Tatler, among many others.

We are headquartered in New York and London and operate in 32 markets worldwide, with a footprint of more than 1 billion consumers across print, digital, video and social platforms.

Condé Nast thrives on collaboration, and our teams come together in the office four days a week (Monday - Thursday).

We value diversity of background, views and cultures. We celebrate people for their personal qualities, skills and contributions, recognising the power our brands have to influence and shape culture.

Vogue is seeking an experienced and creative European Director of Social to define and lead the brand’s overarching social strategy across Europe. Reporting to the Global Director of Social, this role will establish a clear European vision for how Vogue builds audiences, drives engagement and evolves its presence across social platforms.

The role will connect Vogue’s European markets around shared strategy, innovation, best practices and opportunities, while ensuring the strategy is shaped by the distinct needs of each market. Local social leads will report into the European Director, while remaining the authorities on their individual markets — bringing deep knowledge of local audiences, culture, editorial priorities and platform behaviours to the development and execution of the European strategy.

The role will also play an active role in shaping and capturing social-first content on the ground, including around key cultural and fashion moments such as red carpets, fashion weeks and other major Vogue events.

The ideal candidate is a senior social strategist with exceptional editorial judgement, a strong understanding of fashion and culture, and a track record of building engaged audiences across multiple markets and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Global Director of Social, own and develop Vogue’s European social strategy, aligned with global social priorities.
  • Streamlining and identifying how to better work with commercial and consumer teams to drive revenue, report performance and deliver on campaigns.
  • Work with local social leads to ensure each market's strategy is informed by local market expertise, cultural nuance and audience behaviour, whilst aligning to the overarching Global vision.
  • Manage relationships with European social partners effectively communicating platform updates, escalating issues & finding new ways of working.
  • Develop European-wide social franchises, formats and campaigns, with flexibility for local adaptation.
  • Partner with editorial, video, audience development, commercial, PR, marketing, art and design teams to maximise social impact.
  • Drive audience growth, engagement, traffic, loyalty and commercial opportunities through data-informed strategy and continuous optimisation.
  • Champion emerging platforms, formats and technologies, ensuring Vogue remains innovative and culturally relevant.
  • Manage a team of Social Media Experts across five markets, including but not limited to: hiring, talent development, performance management, implementation of clear processes and communication channels, delegation of work, providing clear direction and constructive feedback.
  • Foster a transparent, respectful, inclusive, and collaborative team environment, taking into consideration local market differences and nuance.
  • Help organize and train a team for key tentpole moments like Met Gala and Vogue World ensuring brand alignment and a cohesive social strategy that supports our targets.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in social media, ideally within publishing, fashion, media or audience development.
  • Proven experience developing social strategy across multiple markets and/or within a global organisation.
  • Strong track record of audience growth and social engagement.
  • Expert knowledge of major social platforms and emerging trends.
  • Exceptional editorial judgement, writing and understanding of brand voice.
  • Strong understanding of fashion, culture and European audiences.
  • Experience leading and developing social teams across markets.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with tools such as Dash Hudson, ListenFirst, Parse.ly and Google Analytics.
  • Experience with social video, visual storytelling and creative tools such as Premiere, Photoshop and Canva.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder-management skills, particularly across cultures and time zones.
  • Highly organised, commercially aware and comfortable operating in a fast-paced global matrix organisation.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
