The posting

Copart, Inc. a technology leader and the premier online vehicle auction platform globally, with over 200 facilities located across the world, Copart links vehicle sellers to more than 750,000 buyers in over 190 countries. We believe in providing an unmatched experience, every day and everywhere, driven by our people, processes, and technology.

About Copart

Copart is a global leader in online vehicle auctions, connecting buyers and sellers worldwide. We're transforming the automotive remarketing industry through innovative technology solutions that process millions of vehicles annually. Our Dallas technology team is at the forefront of modernizing our core business systems, working on challenging problems at scale.

About the Role

We're seeking a curious, driven Software Engineering Intern to join our Title Transfer Services team, which owns the critical ownership and title transfer process for vehicles received at our yards nationwide. This is a greenfield opportunity to help build modern, scalable services from the ground up using cutting-edge technologies and design principles.

You'll contribute to a strategic re-architecture initiative, moving from legacy systems to a modern modular monolith architecture. You'll help build and maintain our Java and React full-stack applications, and help explore how agentic AI can automate and optimize operational processes.

We're looking for someone who is AI-ready: you already build with AI coding agents as a natural part of your workflow, you've built agentic AI projects of your own, and you pair that with solid software engineering fundamentals.

What You'll Do

Architecture & Design

  • Help design and implement modular, domain-aligned, AI-powered applications that model complex vehicle title transfer and ownership processes
  • Learn how architectural decisions balance technical excellence with business needs
  • Help design RESTful APIs and integration patterns for inter-module communication
  • Share ideas in technical discussions around tooling, frameworks, and system design

Development & Implementation

  • Build and maintain features across our Java, Spring Boot, and React full-stack applications
  • Use AI coding agents to accelerate development, while reviewing, testing, and taking ownership of the code they produce
  • Build responsive user interfaces and robust backend services
  • Write tests that ensure code quality and system reliability
  • Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to maintain high standards
  • Write clean, well-documented code following solid engineering principles and design patterns

AI, Agents & Automation

  • Help build and prototype AI agents that automate and optimize title transfer processes and operational workflows
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency
  • Work with the team's emerging agent stack (Python, Google's Agent Development Kit, and GCP) as it takes shape
  • Stay curious about emerging technologies and evaluate their potential application to business problems

Collaboration & Learning

  • Collaborate with product managers, domain experts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including UX/UI designers, QA engineers, and DevOps to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Learn from experienced engineers through pairing, code reviews, and technical planning sessions
  • Share what you learn about AI coding agents and agentic tooling with the wider team

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends, especially in agentic AI
  • Identify opportunities for technical debt reduction and system optimization
  • Contribute ideas to the evolution of team standards, processes, and tooling
  • Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (completed or in progress); Master's preferred
  • Proven hands-on experience building agentic AI applications through personal, academic, or professional projects (for example, agents that plan, call tools or APIs, or run multi-step workflows); please share links or descriptions
  • Regular use of AI coding agents in your development workflow, with the judgment to review, test, and own the code they produce
  • Strong programming fundamentals in at least one backend language such as Java, Python, Go, C#, or similar
  • Exposure to frontend development with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of software design principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS) and common design patterns
  • Understanding of RESTful API design
  • Familiarity with relational databases and data modeling
  • Experience with version control (Git) and exposure to CI/CD practices
  • Passion for learning and staying current with technology trends and best practices
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring ecosystem
  • Experience building React applications
  • Experience building agents in Python
  • Exposure to agent frameworks such as Google's Agent Development Kit (ADK) or similar
  • Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or another major cloud platform
  • Familiarity with agent concepts such as tool calling, retrieval, multi-agent orchestration, and evaluating agent behavior
  • Interest in modular monolith architectures and when to use monoliths vs. microservices
  • Exposure to Domain-Driven Design concepts
  • Experience with Docker and containerization
  • Background in automotive, logistics, or document processing domains
  • Experience with test-driven development (TDD)
  • Side projects, open-source contributions, hackathons, or experimentation with different tech stacks
  • Active participation in technology communities, conferences, or online learning
  • Experience across multiple programming paradigms (OOP, functional, etc.)

Technical Stack

  • Backend: Java, Spring Boot, Spring Modulith (but we appreciate polyglot experience)
  • Frontend: React, JavaScript/TypeScript (experience with other frameworks valued)
  • AI & Agents: Python, Google Agent Development Kit (ADK), Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Development Workflow: AI coding agents as part of everyday development
  • Database: Relational databases
  • Architecture: Modulith, modular monolith design
  • Tools: Git, Maven/Gradle, Docker, CI/CD pipelines
  • Testing: JUnit, Mockito, React Testing Library
  • Infrastructure: On-premise data centers, with GCP for agent development

What Makes This Internship Special

  • Technical Variety: Work across the full stack and on AI agents, exploring different approaches to solving problems
  • Agentic AI in Practice: Build AI agents that tackle real operational problems, not just demos
  • AI-Native Engineering: Develop production software with AI coding agents alongside engineers who use them daily
  • Real-World Complexity: Solve challenging problems in the vehicle title transfer and ownership space at scale
  • Modern Practices: Learn contemporary architectural patterns in a production environment
  • Growth Opportunity: Build a strong foundation in full-stack engineering and agentic AI that sets up your career
  • Business Impact: Your work contributes to systems that enable Copart's core business operations affecting millions of transactions
  • Learning Culture: Work with engineers who are curious, love experimenting with new tech, and value continuous learning

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
