The posting

The National is hiring for an Assistant Banquet Manager. You should join our team if you believe...

That great events are created through thoughtful planning, strong leadership, and exceptional attention to detail. That every wedding, meeting, celebration, and special event deserves to feel personal and memorable. That great leaders are hands-on, approachable, and willing to jump in wherever their team needs them. That seamless collaboration between Banquets, Culinary, Events, and other departments is essential to a successful event. That taking care of your team is just as important as taking care of your guests. That every event is an opportunity to create UNMATCHED MOMENTS.

You’re a great fit for this role if you love...

Assisting with the planning and execution of meetings, weddings, private events, and catered functions. Ensuring event spaces are accurately set according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), diagrams, and brand standards. Overseeing event flow, timing, and service delivery from setup through breakdown. Serving as a Manager on Duty during assigned events and confidently addressing guest needs in real time. Supporting the hiring, training, coaching, and development of Banquet Curators. Leading pre-shift meetings to communicate event details, service expectations, timing, and special requests. Coaching Curators in the moment and holding the team accountable to Coury Hospitality standards and behaviors. Creating a positive, collaborative, and high-energy environment where Curators feel supported and set up for success. Building strong relationships with clients, event planners, vendors, and internal partners. Anticipating guest needs and ensuring every detail of an event is executed with care and precision. Communicating closely with Culinary and Events teams to ensure food and beverage service runs smoothly. Assisting with scheduling based on business needs, event volume, and labor targets. Supporting payroll, inventory, and cost-control initiatives. Reviewing BEOs and ensuring important event information is accurately communicated to the appropriate departments. Maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and sanitation requirements. Jumping in alongside the team when needed and leading by example throughout every event.

We’re excited to have you join us because...

You are a People First leader who genuinely enjoys developing and supporting others. You understand that successful events require both strong preparation and the ability to adapt when plans change. You have a strong leadership presence and can confidently guide a team through a busy event. You remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented when unexpected challenges arise. You have exceptional organizational skills and can manage multiple details, timelines, and priorities at once. You take pride in creating elevated, personalized experiences for guests and clients. You understand banquet operations, food and beverage service, event execution, and the importance of timing. You communicate clearly and effectively with Curators, leadership, clients, planners, and other departments. You are comfortable making decisions in the moment and taking ownership of the guest experience. You thrive in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment where no two events are exactly the same. You believe leadership means being present, supporting your team, and setting the example for the level of service you expect.

Education and Experience

Two or more years of banquet or event management experience in a hotel, resort, catering, or upscale hospitality environment required. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of banquet operations, food and beverage service, and event execution. Experience working with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event diagrams preferred. Strong leadership and team-development skills. Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to coach, motivate, and hold team members accountable. Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work closely and collaboratively with multiple departments. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying event hours based on business needs.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods throughout events and shifts. Ability to move throughout banquet spaces, meeting rooms, kitchens, service corridors, and back-of-house areas. Ability to assist with event setup and breakdown, including moving banquet equipment and furniture as needed. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing event timelines, guest needs, and operational priorities. Ability to maintain professionalism and composure during high-volume events. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts based on event schedules. Ability to safely handle and work around food, beverages, banquet equipment, carts, tables, chairs, and other event materials. Ability to maintain a polished, professional appearance and adhere to all grooming and uniform standards.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
