The posting

As a Cruise Ship DJ, you will be responsible for providing high-quality entertainment and music for passengers aboard the cruise ship. Your role is crucial in creating a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere for guests of all ages, ensuring they have memorable experiences during their voyage. You will be a part of the onboard entertainment team, collaborating with other performers and staff to deliver an exceptional entertainment program.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Music Selection: Curate a diverse and appropriate music library that caters to various tastes and age groups among the passengers. Develop playlists and mixes that suit different events, themes, and venues on the ship.
  2. Live DJ Sets: Perform live DJ sets at designated times and venues throughout the cruise. These may include poolside parties, dance clubs, lounges, themed nights, and other entertainment events.
  3. Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate expertise in operating DJ equipment, sound systems, and lighting to ensure seamless performances. Troubleshoot technical issues if they arise during your sets.
  4. Engage the Audience: Interact with passengers to gauge their preferences and requests. Encourage crowd participation and create a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere during performances.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with the onboard entertainment team, including dancers, singers, and other performers, to create coordinated shows and themed events.
  6. Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and conduct while on duty, adhering to the cruise line's grooming and uniform standards.
  7. Time Management: Be punctual and organized in managing your schedule to ensure on-time performances and smooth transitions between events.
  8. Safety and Security: Comply with all safety regulations and emergency procedures. Be aware of the ship's layout and evacuation routes in case of emergencies.
  9. Equipment Maintenance: Take responsibility for the care and maintenance of DJ equipment, ensuring it remains in excellent working condition throughout the cruise.
  10. Guest Interaction: Be approachable and friendly with passengers, answering questions, and assisting with music-related inquiries.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a DJ, preferably in a hospitality or entertainment setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of music genres and a wide-ranging music library.
  • Proficiency in using DJ equipment, including mixers, turntables, and controllers.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse audiences and musical preferences.
  • Time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple performances and events.
  • Understanding of crowd dynamics and the ability to energize and engage an audience.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as cruise schedules demand.

Note: Working as a DJ on a cruise ship can be a highly rewarding experience, offering opportunities to travel, meet people from around the world, and showcase your talent in unique settings. However, it's essential to be prepared for the challenges of living and working on a ship, including the potential for extended contracts and limited time off during the sailing season.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
