The posting

As a Printer onboard a cruise ship, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining printing equipment to produce a variety of printed materials, including menus, flyers, posters, signage, and other promotional materials. Your role is essential in supporting the ship's marketing and communication efforts, ensuring high-quality printed materials are available for onboard events, activities, and guest services.

Responsibilities:

  1. Printing Operations: Operate printing equipment, such as digital printers, copiers, and offset presses, following established procedures and safety guidelines. Prepare and set up printing jobs, including selecting appropriate paper stock, ink, and other materials. Monitor and adjust printing processes to ensure quality and accuracy in color, alignment, and image reproduction. Maintain inventory of printing supplies, such as paper, ink, toner, and printing plates, and reorder as needed. Troubleshoot and resolve minor printing equipment issues, and escalate major technical problems to the appropriate personnel. Collaborate with colleagues, such as graphic designers and marketing staff, to understand printing requirements and specifications.
  2. Print Material Production: Receive and review printing requests, ensuring all necessary details, artwork, and specifications are provided. Prepare and layout files for printing, including formatting, resizing, and adjusting images as required. Print and finish various materials, such as menus, brochures, banners, promotional materials, and stationery. Perform quality control checks on printed materials, ensuring they meet the desired standards and specifications. Assist with the design and layout of print materials using graphic design software, if applicable. Ensure timely completion of print jobs, meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks as necessary.
  3. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of printing equipment to ensure optimal performance. Identify and troubleshoot common printing issues, such as paper jams, color inconsistencies, and print quality problems. Coordinate with onboard technical support or external vendors for major equipment repairs or servicing. Keep abreast of advancements in printing technology and techniques to enhance print quality and efficiency.
  4. Record-Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of printing jobs, including job details, quantities produced, materials used, and associated costs. Prepare reports and provide updates on printing activities, material consumption, and inventory status. Ensure compliance with onboard policies and procedures related to printing operations and record-keeping.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certification or training in printing technology is a plus.
  • Previous experience in operating and maintaining printing equipment, preferably in a commercial printing environment.
  • Proficiency in using various printing technologies, software, and graphic design tools.
  • Knowledge of different printing techniques, paper types, and finishing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in print production.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot common printing issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and understand printing requirements.
  • Flexibility to work in a multi-cultural and fast-paced cruise ship environment.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials, and perform routine maintenance tasks.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
