Why This Role Matters

Every role at CGA exists to help students grow into the people described in our graduate profile. The USDP Deputy Principal makes that real every day: turning the graduate profile into daily practice, raising the bar on teaching excellence across every learning mode, and moving the campus agenda forward alongside the USDP Principal.

Position Summary

The Deputy Principal is a member of the US Diploma Pathway (USDP) leadership team and works in close partnership with the USDP Principal to advance the school's mission and vision, bring the graduate profile to life, and move the campus agenda forward. The two Deputy Principals work side by side, staying close to each other's work so the campus is always covered and every student, family, and teacher has support. Each holds a main area of focus so that key projects have a clear owner.

Area of Focus

Owns the Da Vinci learning mode across the USDP campus, with a lead role in the junior high campus, grades 6 to 8, ensuring Da Vinci learning and the junior high years build toward the graduate profile.

Whole-Campus Responsibilities

  • Champion teaching excellence by observing, coaching, and sharing strong practice across all learning modes
  • Act as the Principal's designee when the Principal is unavailable, on a rotation agreed with the other Deputy Principal
  • Contribute to campus strategy, policy, and annual improvement planning

  • Share responsibility for student conduct and handle escalated discipline matters
  • Lead and model safeguarding and child protection practice
  • Support WASC accreditation and ongoing school improvement
  • Co-lead staff briefings and professional development
  • Take part in teacher recruitment, interviews, and onboarding
  • Resolve escalated issues with students, families, teachers, and scheduling
  • Maintain accurate student records in Sisyphus and support compliance requirements
  • Use academic data to identify trends and drive improvement

Key Responsibilities

DA VINCI LEARNING MODE

  • Support, coach, and observe Da Vinci teachers, and act as their first point of contact
  • Onboard new Da Vinci teachers into the learning mode and its expectations
  • Lead Da Vinci teacher and student matching
  • Review Da Vinci student progress with teachers and families, and step in early when students stall
  • Build shared Da Vinci resources, practices, and standards across subjects

JUNIOR HIGH CAMPUS

  • Lead the junior high campus program and student experience
  • Design a clear transition from junior high into the high school pathway
  • Build family partnership and communication suited to younger students

LEARNING SUPPORT

  • Oversee diagnostic testing for incoming and junior high students
  • Support Admissions Officers with Da Vinci and junior high placement

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education or Educational Leadership

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
