Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Marketing Events leads the firmwide strategy, planning, execution and measurement of high-impact firm-hosted client-facing in-person events. This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of marquee events and oversees event operations, vendors, budgets, and cross-functional stakeholders. The Senior Manager of Marketing Events also develops and plans partner and all attorney retreats and is responsible for all logistics related to these events. Through thoughtfully designed and flawlessly executed client events, you will play a direct role in supporting revenue growth, client retention, and reinforcing the firm’s brand as a trusted advisor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establishes and champions best practices in strategic event planning and execution and serve as a strategic advisor to firm leaders, attorneys, and business development professionals on event strategy, audience engagement, format, investment, and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Client Development teams’ senior leaders to develop an event strategy that supports revenue-generation goals, including designing events for core firm focus areas and client groups.
  • Partners with CMO and Director of Client Service to develop signature client experiences that strengthen the firm’s relationships.
  • Partners with internal teams (marketing, digital, communications, operations, IT) to ensure event collateral, branding, registration platforms and hybrid/virtual event infrastructure are on point
  • Works with the business development team to define event strategy and ensure the firm maximizes on business development and brand-building opportunities and interactions
  • Oversees vendor and contractor relationship (venues, caterers, A/V, transportation, hotels, even design, etc) ensuring competitive pricing and service excellence.
  • Develops and oversees annual events budgets, track expenses, reconcile invoices and collaborate with Finance
  • Maintains an event calendar and integrate with broader BD/marketing calendar; ensure alignment across offices/regions.
  • Develops and implements best practices, event process templates, checklists, and vendor/venue databases. Ensure consistent brand and client experience standards across offices and event formats.
  • Leads, develops, and manages a sophisticated events team, including setting priorities, allocating work, coaching performance, and supporting profressional development.
  • Responsible for event due diligence with regard to site selection, vendor selection, and contract execution (for space, food, audiovisual needs, transportation, etc.)
  • Manages/maintains the events section of the firm’s website, intranet page and contributes to bi-weekly business development reporting.
  • Manages registration/attendee systems, guest lists, invitations, communications, travel logistics, accommodations and attendee experience.
  • Defines success measures and analytics to evaluate event success (attendance, attendee feedback, conversion to business, budget adherence, ROI) and identify areas for improvement.
  • Travels as required to support events at other firm locations or off-site venues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to manage large scale, high-visibility events across multiple geographies and/or hybrid formats.
  • Ability to conceptualize and deliver events that advance the firm’s client engagement, retention and growth objectives — ensuring the client experience is seamless, memorable and aligned with the firm’s brand of trusted adviser.
  • Mastery of the full lifecycle: ideation, budgeting, vendor procurement, logistics, on-site/virtual management, follow-through/metrics.
  • Strong financial mindset — builds and monitors event budgets, tracks KPIs/ROI, justifies spend, and uses insights to refine strategy.
  • Knowledge of MS suite and internet research and other commonly used business applications to source event locations and destinations
  • Advanced knowledge of Vuture, ON24, Zoom, EMS, and InterAction/CRM Platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with internal and external contacts
  • Ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external contacts, regarding non-legal matters of a routine nature. Requires patience, creativity and discretion
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge or guidance, analyze and interpret data from several sources, solve problems by applying precedent or extrapolating from previous experience
  • Demonstrated project and team management experience.

Education

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree. CMP designation preferred.

Experience

The position requires a minimum of ten years of related experience, including a minimum of five years of corporate event management experience, preferably in a law firm.

The salary for this position may vary based on location, market data, an applicant’s skills and prior experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other factors.
