This position specializes in supporting students with disabilities seeking accommodations, guiding them through an individualized, interactive, and ongoing assessment process. The position evaluates documentation, functional limitations, and student narratives to determine reasonable accommodations that ensure equal access while maintaining compliance with legal and institutional standards including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Full Consideration Date: Monday, 10/26/2026, 11:59pm (MT).

Description of Work Unit:

Student Disability Center, as part of the Accessibility Center, seeks to ensure equal access for Colorado State University students with disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Sections 504/508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and CO HB 21‑1110.

Through collaboration, we proactively empower students, faculty, and staff to share responsibility for the integration of accessibility into all aspects of university life. The Accessibility Center serves as both a campus leader and a national exemplar in creating inclusive, barrier-free learning and working environments.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Serve as the primary contact for specialized groups of students with disabilities requesting accommodations, ensuring a thorough interactive process that respects individual experiences and promotes self-advocacy.
  • Conduct individualized assessments through a nonburdensome and ongoing interactive process that considers relevant medical documentation, functional limitations, observation and student narratives to determine reasonable accommodations and auxiliary aids in compliance with legal frameworks and institutional policy.
  • Assess, through an individualized, interactive process, whether requested accommodations are necessary to ensure access in individual contexts. Apply professional judgment and ethical standards to ensure accommodations provide equal access to all university programs, services, and opportunities.
  • Engage in institutional processes such as fundamental alteration reviews, registration appeals, applying policy interpretation and advocacy skills.
  • Proactively advocate for the mitigation of barriers to access in all campus programs, services, and activities in physical, digital, academic and co-curricular experiences.
  • In collaboration with SDC and Accessibility Center leadership, implement expectations and directives set forth to further office and division-wide mission and goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Work schedule is M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
  • Hybrid work location.

Supervision:

  • Supervise 3-5 Accommodation Specialists (1.0 FTE each).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in special education, social work, psychology, human development, or a related field and 5 years of professional full-time experience working directly with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Strong working knowledge regarding the federal non-discriminatory mandates of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act and its amendments.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
