The posting

Company Overview

We are a dynamic and forward-thinking customs services provider, committed to delivering exceptional customs, trade compliance and advisory solutions to our clients. With a strong focus on operational excellence, technical expertise and technology-enabled services, we are looking to strengthen our Global Trade Advisory & Solutions team by hiring a detail-oriented and analytical Trade Compliance Operations – Classification Analyst.

Position Summary

As a Classification Analyst, you will support the delivery of customs classification services across international client accounts, mainly within the EU. The role combines product analysis and customs classification with the preparation, review and reconciliation of large datasets.

You will support both mass classification projects and recurring client requests, determining appropriate HS and EU commodity codes and documenting the reasoning behind each assessment. Working alongside experienced analysts and the Classification Manager, you will use established methodologies, AI tools and data systems to deliver accurate, consistent and traceable results. Your responsibilities and autonomy will develop through training, technical guidance and structured review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess product descriptions, technical documentation, composition and intended use to support accurate customs classification.
  • Determine and document proposed HS and EU commodity codes, including the supporting rationale and relevant classification rules.
  • Identify missing product information, prepare focused clarification requests and escalate complex or uncertain classification cases when required.
  • Support mass classification projects and recurring classification requests across different clients and product categories.
  • Prepare, reconcile and maintain large datasets, including article matching, duplicate identification and classification consistency checks.
  • Use AI tools to support classification workflows, critically assess their suggestions and validate outputs against product information and relevant sources.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of classification assessments, supporting sources, outstanding questions and review status.
  • Prepare delivery files, manage assigned requests and monitor progress against agreed priorities and deadlines.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of documented procedures, client instructions and quality checks.
  • Contribute to the testing and implementation of technology, AI solutions and process improvements within classification operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least one year of relevant professional experience in customs classification, customs, trade compliance or a related customs or logistics role involving commodity codes.
  • Working knowledge of HS classification and the EU tariff framework, including CN/TARIC and the General Rules for Interpretation.
  • Ability to analyse product information, identify the characteristics relevant to classification and clearly explain the reasoning behind a proposed commodity code.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence handling large datasets, reconciling information and identifying discrepancies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to maintaining accurate, consistent and traceable records.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines and changing priorities across different projects and client requests.
  • Clear communication skills, a collaborative approach and sound judgement on when technical guidance or escalation is required.
  • Confidence in learning new systems and working with AI and technology, combined with a critical approach to reviewing and validating results.
  • Professional working proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with mass classification, recurring classification services or product master data would be an advantage.
  • Experience in logistics or international trade operations would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Power Query, databases, workflow tools or ERP systems would be an advantage.
  • Working proficiency in German or French would be an advantage.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Structured training, technical guidance and support from experienced classification colleagues.
  • Opportunity to develop your technical expertise in customs classification, HS codes and the EU tariff framework.
  • Exposure to a variety of international client accounts, product categories, systems and classification projects.
  • Hands-on experience combining customs expertise, detailed data analysis and AI-supported classification processes.
  • Opportunity to take increasing ownership of classification activities as your technical expertise develops.
  • Opportunity to work in a collaborative international environment within Global Trade Advisory & Solutions.
  • Professional development opportunities within a growing international company.
  • Full-time permanent role within the company.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
