Daher’s Sandpoint, Idaho site is a key U.S. aircraft manufacturing and support location specializing in the hand‑built production of the Kodiak aircraft family. The facility supports final assembly, painting, inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities for the Kodiak 100 and Kodiak 900, serving commercial, multi‑mission, and public service customers worldwide. In addition to manufacturing, the site provides comprehensive aircraft maintenance, technical support, and quality oversight, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and customer requirements, while continuing to expand production capabilities and reinforcing its role as a center of excellence for rugged, mission‑ready turboprop aircraft within Daher’s global network.

Job Description:

Kodiak Aircraft is seeking motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join our Coatings Team. The Aircraft Coatings Processor performs critical surface preparation, chemical processing, masking, priming, painting, finishing, and inspection activities that support the production of world-class aircraft. Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, this position ensures aircraft structures, components, and assemblies meet engineering specifications, quality standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Primary Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare aircraft parts and surfaces through cleaning, sanding, scuffing, chemical treatment, masking, and other surface preparation processes.
  • Perform coating preparation, mixing, application, and finishing activities in accordance with engineering specifications and manufacturing procedures.
  • Process components through coating, treatment, curing, and finishing operations.
  • Operate coating equipment, spray systems, processing equipment, and related tools safely and effectively.
  • Inspect completed work for defects, contamination, coating quality, and compliance with requirements.
  • Read and follow work instructions, engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Mix and handle coatings, chemicals, solvents, sealants, and related materials according to established processes.
  • Maintain coating booths, processing equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Complete production documentation and accurately record work performed.
  • Identify and report quality, safety, equipment, or process concerns.
  • Support continuous improvement, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to support production goals.
  • Follow all company policies, environmental regulations, and safety requirements.

What you’ll be doing day-to-day:

  • Preparing aircraft surfaces and components for coating and processing operations.
  • Performing chemical treatment, masking, coating application, finishing, and related processing activities.
  • Inspecting parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to support production objectives.
  • Operating and maintaining coating and processing equipment.
  • Supporting production schedules while maintaining exceptional workmanship.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties may be assigned

What you need to have

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of aerospace, manufacturing, industrial coatings, chemical processing, surface preparation, or related production experience.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, procedures, and specifications.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators when required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of aerospace coatings, aircraft painting, industrial painting, or related manufacturing experience.
  • Trade school, vocational training, or technical certification.
  • Experience operating HVLP spray equipment and coating application systems.
  • Experience with aircraft primers, topcoats, sealants, and specialty coatings.
  • Experience reading blueprints, technical drawings, or engineering specifications.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment such as aerospace, automotive, defense, or industrial manufacturing.

Information related to the position:

  • The compensation range is $23.00 to $27.00 per hour.
  • The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Daher considers a number of factors when determining salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, skills, and current market conditions.
