The posting

DanChurchAid (DCA) is looking for an experienced and values-based leader to take up the position of Country Director for our Lebanon programme.

As Country Director in Lebanon, you have overall responsibility for the strategic leadership, team building, management, and development of DCA’s country programme in a complex and high-risk operating environment. Fundraising, networking and in-country donor engagement are essential parts of the role.

DCA Programme in Lebanon

DCA’s Lebanon programme focuses on saving lives and reducing risks from landmines and explosive remnants of war, while contributing to broader humanitarian and resilience-building efforts for vulnerable communities and local civil society.

Main Responsibilities

You will lead a multidisciplinary team of mine action and humanitarian professionals and ensure staff welfare, security management, and a safe supportive working environment.

You will provide strategic and operational leadership of DCA’s humanitarian and mine action portfolio, ensuring high-quality, accountable, and compliant implementation of and coherence between humanitarian and mine action interventions.

The position is based in Beirut with regular travel within Lebanon.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall strategic, programmatic, and operational leadership of the DCA Lebanon country programme
  • Lead, mentor and develop staff engaged in the programme, providing support as needed and fostering a strong culture of cooperation, safety, performance and accountability.
  • Represent DCA towards partners, donors, national authorities, UN agencies, and in relevant coordination mechanisms
  • Lead fundraising, donor relations, programme development, and ensure sound financial and operational management

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-10 years’ senior leadership experience at Country Director level or in a comparable position within humanitarian operations and mine action
  • Proven experience in fundraising, networking and donor liaison, including identifying and cultivating funding opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with donors and key stakeholders, and representing the organisation in donor dialogues, meetings, and relevant coordination fora
  • Demonstrated ability to lead safety-critical operations and develop high-performing teams with a focus on good cooperation in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Solid knowledge of financial, administrative, logistical, and operational management in complex contexts
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Experience in humanitarian mine action programme management is an advantage
  • Scandinavian language skills as well as knowledge of Arabic and/or experience from Lebanon, is an advantage

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
